We’re still enjoying our second night here and are really impressed. The lodge location is excellent, a small village is walkable if you are able to scale the steep hill coming out of the property. The village has a pub, chippy and a shop selling all the provisions you might need. The property is situated at the bottom of a steep hill with a winding tarmac road leading down- Not a problem if you go slow. Lodge has its own little garden area including a fire pit, deck and barbecue- although we haven’t used any of this. The lounge/ kitchen area is well decorated and very comfortable. If you’re bringing a dog make sure you have a couple of big blankets with you to cover the sofa- you have to sign a form to agree to pay dry cleaning costs for muddy paws!- rightly so! The doggy welcome pack was a nice touch and we managed 4 meals out of it with our small dog. The log burner was lovely- particularly as it was chilly outside. The bedroom is beautiful and the bed is so comfy we had trouble getting up in the morning! Bathroom is good- shower a bit slow but we’re used to a power shower- it does the job though. There is a range of dvds available and free WiFi that provides a good enough connection for streaming movies etc. Kitchen has all of the basic equipment/ utensils needed for a short stay. Everything was immaculately clean and cared for. Nice touches included toiletries in the bathroom, bath robes, fluffy towels and of course the doggy welcome pack. Fern was very welcoming and talked us through the basics when we arrived but we have been left to our own devices apart from that- which is ideal for two city dwellers looking to hunker down and chill for a couple of days at the end of a long week. The lodge feels isolated, despite being next to the main house and the views are amazing. We had free reign to still around the grounds with be dog. We shall definitely return in the summer months to enjoy the outside space more. Highly recommend this property.
Lovely lodge in a beautiful location. Lodge was very clean and comfortable nice welcome from the host which was added to by a welcome pack of afternoon tea with scones that were still warm. There was even a welcome pack for our dog! Good supply of logs for the wood burner. Bbq and fire pit with tree stumps to sit on helped to make this a delightful place to stay. We enjoyed sitting on the deck watching the wildlife and listening to the silence . A little bit of heaven.
My daughter grandson myself and our dog charlie stayed here for two night it was lovely .the lodge is cozy very clean and you are in the midst of natural nature it was lovely listening to the morning birds and walking up hill in to lovely forest land will definitely be going back
We stayed for three nights in this beautifully presented lodge. We had a lovely welcome from Fearn.
First impression that it looks small on the outside but turned out be surprisingly roomy inside. Great quiet location with walks up the drive and in locality. The lodge is beautifully presented with quality furnishings and everything tastefully put together. Toiletries and fluffy towels and dressing gown.! Even a welcome pack for dogs and fresh scones for us. !Really impressed with the comfort and attention to detail. Lovely rural location. Woke to dawn chorus . Plenty of places to explore locally and the food options are varied and amazing. Recommend for couples with dogs. Hope to come bak again soon.
