We were in Room 1 for one night. This pub/restaurant/inn was older (1774) than the Iron Bridge (1779) and creaked a bit, but that was part of the charm. The proprietor was friendly and helpful, somewhat patient with us. He showed us to our room and explained the steps down into our private bathroom with a shower (large room). There was a small hall from our bathroom with 4 steps up to our twin room. The hall had a light with a motion sensor for safely. Our room was smallish, but adequate. There was a desk with a TV occupying half of it, but the other half was usable for our laptop. There was space to set up a luggage stand, and a wardrobe. Our window faced the side of the building overlooking picnic tables. Though the road was heavily traveled, the traffic died down during the night hours and did not disturb our sleep. The bed was the most comfortable of the 8 or 9 B&Bs we have stayed at during these three weeks, the proprietor telling us that they were memory foam mattresses. Also, the window had excellent darkening drapes and light did not awaken us in the morning.
