“Excellent food with a warm and lasting welcome and Good Value for Money”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 29, 2013

A wonderful welcome from the owners of the Bird in Hand who extended arrival and a hot meal due to a long journey (thanks M6!), a lovely thought seeing at it was gone 21.30 and we had a grumpy tired and over hungry 8 year old in the party.

The pub itself is quirky in it's upper layout and a real treat to try to work out, this may account to the buildings age as it has been standing since well before the Ironbridge itself.

The rooms are comfortably furnished with a 70's early 80's feel, with all you need for a short stay. Meticulously clean throughout with a shower en-suite, tea and coffee, radio TV and beds that are SOOOOO comfortable, had it not been for the bedroom window view of the River Severn in the mornings and the promise of a lovely and filling home cooked breakfast served with a hearty felt Good Morning from Steve, it would have been hard to leave the beds amazing comfort.

The food at the Bird in Hand is impeccable, the hardest part was deciding what to have from an extensive menu and the daily specials. The portions are generous but just right for a holiday indulgent. Allow for a rest between starter, main and then dessert if you can fit it. If you cannot please rest a while loner with a cask ale or cider until you can fit a pud in, you wont regret it.

The family running the Bird in Hand are accommodating, friendly and go out of their way to assist. This B&B was a rare find in this current days trend for clinical and impersonate hotel B&B trends. It's a establishment that we will be returning to as they have perfected the art of a traditional B&B service.

The location is wonderful at the Jackfield end of the village but in walking distance from the Ironbridge itself and village center It is close to Blist Hill where the Victorian Town is and took less than 5 minuets to drive there.

All in all a wonderful stay, I would recommend this B&B to you all without hesitation.

Warm welcome from Steve our host for the weekend who led us upstairs to our room , which was styled to the 70s/80s but spotlessly clean, tea & coffee facilities are available, room has ample room for a short stay and the bed was so comfortable, but the best was the view of the river.
The pub itself had a wide range on the menu and meals were cheaper on the 2nd night as after dining once you then get a loyalty card which gives you money off your next meal.
Its a ten minute stroll into Ironbridge itself which has shops and bars/ restaurants

Room Tip: River views are at the front

We had a meal. Extensive menu, favorable prices. jolly landlord and pleasant customers. We enjoyed the meal and felt that we had had a 'fun' evening. Nice position, above the river (no danger of flooding!)

We recently stayed 2 nights at. The Bird in Hand. We found it to be very good value for money. Room was comfortable, clean and warm. Breakfast was good, the ham and eggs were a particular favourite. Staff were welcoming and very friendly. There is a wide choice of meals served throughout the day, again tasty and good value for money. It is convenient for Ironbridge, a easy stroll to the town and near all attractions. I would recommend staying there and would definitely return.

Having had a terrible experience the night before at another pub in Ironbridge we set out to try and find somewhere that could bury that disaster once and for all. We drove past and decided to give it a go. We received a warm welcome and the 4 of us were soon seated in a spotlessly clean if a little fashioned room enjoying a drink and checking the menu. Our meals arrived quickly, were piping hot and very tasty (I had the gammon and it was delicious). With 3 sweets and drinks all round the bill was under £60 which was excellent. I would thoroughly recommend it to everyone

This is a pub with rooms dating back to 1774. Situated close to Ironbridge. The accommodation is entered through a separate entrance to the pub itself. The welcome was warm and friendly, and we immediately felt at home. The room we stayed in had very comfortable twin beds, TV, plenty of tea and coffee making facilities, and the shower room was ensuite, down a number of steps. The decor is not modern, but if you need modern, then perhaps a premier inn is more suitable. The building is old, so in places the stairs are narrow and the floors not level, but this is part of the charm. The food in the pub was extremely good value, tasty and plentiful. The breakfast was also excellent. Generally, we prefer a more modern hotel, but the welcome here is such that we will definitely return in the future. Thank you for a lovely time
