Great location, but beware it is really difficult to drop heavy luggage off on a weekend in summer. Permit is useful for parking across the bridge - it's a long drive round to there from the hotel. The Iron bridge is covered in scaffolding and being renovated at present. Staff on the phone were helpful before arrival, and check in was OK.
Chose this hotel as attending an event in the town - it was pretty much the last available room, and we understand why. If you just want a cheap bed for the night then it's central and that's OK. The bed and room were clean, and toiletries were provided. Bed springs were uncomfortable so we slept on top of the duvet. Service at breakfast was poor, coffee undrinkable and food average - cooked to order though, and filling. Latest available breakfast on a Sunday is only 9am. At 07.40 the electric shower in our room wouldn't work and when we called the hotel nobody answered. Started running a bath but there was no hot water, then randomly the shower switched itself on at 7.55. Didn't bother complaining, we will NEVER return. I can't cope with flies in the dining room, either!More
