“Excellent hotel and staff”
Reviewed September 5, 2012 via mobile

Stayed for two night on 3rd & 4th September. This is s great hotel with great facilities. Breakfast was very good and replaced with fresh items regularly. The restaurant food was excellent and the staff were lovely and very helpful. In fact all the staff in the bar, reception, and the restaurant at breakfast and dinner time were all very pleasant and friendly. Would highly recommend this hotel for a nice relaxing break. The swimming pool jacuzzi, steam room and sauna were all brilliant although the jacuzzi could have done with being a bit warmer but that's my only negative point. The rooms were also really good and the grounds are stunning. This was our second time at Kenwood and would go back again without hesitation.

On arrival to the hotel lovely reception area and grounds. The room however was very dated and basic the walls were paper thin and we could here every word of the conversation from the people in the room next door. Being very tired we ordered room service for just less than 25 we had a bottle of water a can of coke bread with oil and what was described as a honey glazed gammon sandwich, it was in fact more like tesco value processed ham.
We had forgotten out toothpaste but a leaflet said they had stairs we went to reception but none available. We had a good time in Sheffield but the hotel was a total let down other than the breakfast which I must say were very good.

We got a late deal booking on the Friday and arriving on the Monday at the hotel. When we arrived there was a bit of a mix up with our booking but it was soon sorted. The first room we were given was lovely with really big windows. We noticed there was no hairdryer and when we went to ask for one we were told there was a party in the function below us that night. They apologised that they hadn't remembered when we checked in and offered us a change of room if we wanted. We accepted and the second room was even better with a massive bed! We had dinner in the restaurant the first night which was fantastic as was the breakfast both mornings. The grounds were lovely and we used the pool twice which was great. Only thing was the jacuzzi was cold! For the price we paid the whole stay was fantastic!

There is no other way to put this, but this hotel is totally gorgeous! On our arrival we couldn't believe how grand it was! It was a bank holiday so it was very busy with a wedding going on, but this didn't stop the lovely receptionist (i didn't catch her name but she was a very attractive blonde lady who had just started) checked us into our room and happily booked us a cab for later in the evening.
we were in room 203 on the ground floor. Usually I'm very put off by ground floor rooms, but the size of this room was unbelievable. It was huge. I genuinely thought they'd mixed us up and put us in a suite, it was huge and extremely plush. The bed was so comfortable, no cheap bedding here at all and I think the pillows were feather which added to the luxury. Ditto the bathroom, gorgeous and modern but in no way tacky and in keeping with the character of the building and room.

We ate lunch (we snuck in sandwiches from boots!) in the grounds and it was honestly one of the nicest experiences I had ever had. Relaxing, quiet and beautifully but not artificially manicured, the grounds and building are truly spectacular. I felt like I was in Downton Abbey!

After lunch we had a go at the gym and the pool, again great facilities with a fab instructor, a really nice chap. We had a drink before we left for dinner at the bar, the barmaid was very friendly and recommended the various gins for my partner.

We then played cards all night in the bar and had a lovely time in the relaxing atmosphere :-)

All in all a fantastic stay in a beautiful hotel, and we can't wait to go back to being Lord and Lady of the manor again! Thank you very much Kenwood Hall, you're doing a great job x

Room Tip: Ask for a room overlooking the fantastic gardens!

We stayed at this hotel as it is close to chatsworth house (our main reason for visiting the peaks)

The hotel was good but not exactly how it appears on the website! Rooms are spacious but could have done with being a little cleaner! The pool area was in definite need of a good clean and make over! The hotel is a little tired but we saw a lot of decorating etc going on so maybe the pool area is next? The staff here were attentive and helpful however and did get us everything we requested.

We were impressed with the evening meal, a lot better than anticipated! Breakfast also had a good variety.

This isn't a luxury hotel but was however a very comfortable stay and good base for the peaks.

We loved this hotel from the moment we arrived. Although it's quite central you feel like you're in te country as it is surrounded by lovely grounds. The location is great for exploring the peak district and city. Our room was very nice with everything we needed, nice furniture and was spacious and clean. It was fairly luxurious. The evening meal was really nice and breakfast was also very good. All staff were friendly and helpful and the hotel in general is very nicely presented. We used the pool and jacuzzi which were fine and had a walk around the grounds which were lovely. Overall we cannot praise our stay enough we absolutely loved it here and are planning on returning. The only tip I suggest is to have a room overlooking the grounds rather than the front and car park area.

This is the 2nd time we have been at the Kenwood Hall Hotel for a reunion with university friends and were very pleased with the service both times.
This time as well as staying there overnight we also arranged the dinner for all of us (14) with the help of Nicki at the hotel. They offered us the Cutler room with its own bar next door and a choice of set menus to choose from. Both the food and setting were excellent and the staff friendly and efficient and were very patient as were quite late before leaving the dining room and were happy for us to continue chatting well into the early hours in the main bar area.
The bedrooms were all close together which was nice and were large with good facilities. We had a good size bed in a big area and a separate sitting area with desk,tea/coffee facilities etc. The bathroom/shower had all the necessaries and very clean and modern.
The only negative was that there is no aircon in the bedrooms but fans were available.
Breakfast was 6.30-9.30 and we were a little late after the previous night but the staff were again very patient and the choice of food for breakfast was very good.
Parking is free and the grounds are lovely. There is also a swimming pool, sauna and spa.
We would definitely reccommend the Kenwood for anyone wanting a quiet location but still in easy reach of the city centre.
The staff are used to various events, weddings, conferences, dinners etc and we were certainly very happy with them and their service.

Room Tip: Ask for a large room overlooking the grounds and lake.
