Description: Cubana is both a Tapas restaurant and Cuban bar where live music is prominent throughout the week with DJ's and dancing at weekends. Having re-located to Leopold Square almost 3 years ago after 14 highly successful years on nearby Trippet Lane, Cubana is one of the most authentic and well respected venues in Sheffield. The decor is understated, with a theme of 'faded elegance showcasing some amazing original artwork throughout. The extensive menu combines classic Spanish tapas style dishes with South American flare and flavour. Many of the original culinary team of experienced chefs have been in place since their very first day of opening back in November 2000 and this is a major factor as to why Cubana has such a great reputation for top quality and consistently tasty food. A lively atmosphere is helped by great music and energetic presence of Sheffield's Latin community

As the title says it was good and we did enjoy the tapas, service was friendly if a little slow.
Price wise it is a little expensive but then tapas for some reason generally is.

We went on a Monday night and salsa dancing lessons were in full flow we enjoyed watching the dancing and saw some great moves, very entertaining.

Visited Cubana with some friends we haven't seen for ages. Got the early bird discount and we all had the delux set menu which worked out at £17.50 each. We got a great selection of different dishes and they were very tasty but there wasn't enough of each dish. There were 5 prawns to share between 4 which was a bit weird and by the time we'd all had one small spoonful of each dish, it was all gone! So I wasn't really full when we left. The staff were friendly but the service was a bit lacking as we had to get up to ask for pudding menus. The Elderflower Collins cocktail was very very nice though!

We booked a table for two on a Wednesday night for about 730pm after reading and hearing great reviews (live music also advertised), but there was really no need as it was surprisingly very quiet with only one other party there. We were warmly welcomed by a lovely gentleman who looked remarkably like 'Wagner' from the X Factor, brilliant! We had a choice of seating and went for a lovely old wooden table and chairs, very comfy and warm.

Half the restaurant is very dimly lit and half a bit brighter with fab posters on the wall of Cuban life. I began to work my way though a bottle of rose and OH had a Cuban beer, we nibbled on some fabulous marinated olives and garlic bread while we looked at the extensive menu.

We ordered tapas which included a great paella, two massive meatballs in sauce, pork ribs in bbq sauce, chicken skewer, chorizo, hake with cheesy topping, patatas bravas, patatas with garlic mayo - we were greedy pigs! All delicous, in particular the olives and the chorizo, our waitress kindly gave me a doggy bag to take home.

For a treat afterwards I had a chocolate cake with rum and raisin ice cream, REAL rum it was the most delicious dessert in the whole world, HB had a mini box of cigars and an excellent coffee.

The bill was £70 which was spot on, there was live music from 8pm and a lovely warm atmosphere.

Fab food, great chilled out atmosphere, lovely staff, a great night out.

After hearing such great reviews we were totally disappointed! After spending the summer in various locations in Spain enjoying Tapas we heard this was the most authentic place to go.

We visited on a Thursday at around 7.30pm, the atmosphere was distinctly lacking. However the service did make us smile, the ladies were friendly and polite.
We ordered a set menu - (perhaps this was a mistake) which we wouldn't usually do, however it sounded delicious. The food arrived and was okay, nothing more, nothing less. Some plates were nicer than others but lacking the authenticity. Atmosphere picked up when a band arrived - but no dancing! :(
My recommendation.... visit at the weekend, avoid the food, grab a drink and salsa the night away.
