After an extensive renovation period we reopened our doors in November 2006.You will find we have retained many of the features that have given this historical building its renowned character including its revolving doors and the solid oak beams. Customers can enjoy themselves in our warm welcoming environment in front of our wood fire, whilst enjoying a locally brewed ale or some excellent fresh food like our famous Wortley Pie.The Montagu Rooms occupy the upper floor. Here we can accommodate private functions for all purposes. You can hire part or the whole of the top floor for exclusive private dining, for seated parties of up to 50 or buffet style catering for larger gatherings. Alternatively you can reserve the entire venue including the facilities of the Wortley Arms.Food for both the Wortley Arms and the Montagu Rooms is prepared under the direction of Master Chef of Great Britain Andy Gabbitas. Andy uses recipes that he has collected in the course of his experience as private chef to well known celebrities and on his world travels to produce a cuisine at its most pure, simple and seasonal.

“Long wait for food”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 9, 2013

I visited the Wortley Arms last night with some friends. We've been a few times over the years and always enjoyed ourselves and the food. However, last night was a bit of a disappointment because the service was so slow. No fault on the waitress's part though as there was only her plus the bar man serving tables and the place was pretty busy so not sure if it's down to cut backs on staff or bad planning. She was rushed off her feet, doing her best, but everyone was waiting for food and drinks. We booked for 7.30 pm and went to the bar to get drinks, only to be told that if we went to our table our drinks order would be taken there. By 7.45 pm we still hadn't been asked what we'd like from the bar. Why couldn't we get served as we came in? It was a further wait for the drinks to actually arrive and also for the menus and specials board. It was well after 8.30 pm by the time we got our food, which I must say was excellent. We finished our mains and the plates were cleared pretty quickly. But then it was another long wait to see what the desserts were. We ordered around 9.15 pm and were told it would take approximately 15 minutes for these to arrive and this was true. Again the food was delicious. Some people may think that this is not out of the ordinary and that I'm being over critical but we all thought it was too long to wait. If you bear in mind that you are paying restaurant prices, not pub grub, I think they need to step up their game and get some staff in. The staff who were on duty were very good but they were definitely struggling to cope with all the tables.

“Good Pub Food”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 18, 2013

lovely old building, unique, decent food, good parking though tricky to get into. Ordered at the bar, food arrived quite quickly. The main room is very rustic, though there are other rooms to be had which are more modern. Wide range of beers, though focussing on the more popular ones. Plenty of games for kids, but I wouldn't say it was child friendly. A great place on a cold winters night.

“Rainy Day welcome”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 17, 2013

We were late looking for a place for lunch, just two of us. We were made welcome, not put off ordering as had happened about 20 minutes earlier. We settled in "the pub" area rather than the upstairs restaurant. The menu was more limited than expected, the food took a little long to arrive, no excuses, except not clearing up whether we wanted the main for my dining companion, served at the same time as the entree. Nevermind attentive staff, there were only two other diners.
I had been here many years ago, it was a family favourite. The food wasn't outstanding, the menu extremely limited, and the prices did n't represent value. The staff were attentive and helpful, and on a cold, wet day it represented a pleasant haven for lunch!

“Look no further to celebrate your special occasion fantastic welcome and amazing food.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 12, 2013

If you are planning to celebrate your wedding or any special occasion and are wondering where to go, please look no further and book The Wortley Arms. We had visited the Wortley Arms on many occasions for Sunday lunch and evening meals and the quality of food and service was truly amazing. So it was not a difficult decision to make as to where we wanted to have our wedding reception this year and we were not disappointed. We were over whelmed by how the owner Andy Gabbitas and all his staff were more than happy to go the extra mile at every opportunity, to ensure our day would be so very special. Our wedding was not easy to arrange as we now live in Wiltshire and as I previously had spent most of my life in the Wortley area we decided we wanted to marry in my own parish. At all times we could not have had a a more pleasurable experience, we had a wonderful day and the feedback from all our family and friends was " what amazing food and so much of it we couldn't eat it all, it was fantastic" this all said by my Southern and Yorkshire family who love their food and of course expect quality which we definitely received. We have never provided a review before on anything but felt that we understand how difficult it can be to search for information and feel overwhelmed by all that is available. Please feel very confident that you will not be disappointed but delighted with the professional service provided at this particular venue, with extremely welcoming and dedicated staff who will ensure your day, as our's, will be as individual and designed to a very high standard. We have such wonderful memories now and we hope this review will prove useful. Regards Mr Mrs White. Married 18.05.13
