“Quite good but pricey”
Reviewed January 6, 2013

Rather Spartan decor and only average service. Not a romantic dining experience. It is up quite steep stairs which might be a problem for some.

“Over priced”
Reviewed January 4, 2013

Took a mate for a special lunch as it was his birthday, very disappointed, the menu looked great however the kitchen could not deliver in my opinion, it was OK, however nothing special and definitely not worth the money in my opinion.

“excellent food, slightly bizarre service...”
Reviewed December 28, 2012

Two of us visited, and our food off the set menu was excellent and well priced. All the little extras (bread, Olives, little meaty 'things') that came with our pre dinner drinks were a nice touch. We were seated by possibly the manageress, who, when I queried the dirty foot prints on my chair, said "yes, I've been standing on it", and still pulled it out for me to sit on! (and yes , I did....)still, it did cause us to giggle all night. The other staff were spot on, but when ever she came over it was a fawlty towers moment, with tactless comments about our choices....She didnt ruin our night, but she did make it 'memorable'.

“Another great experience”
Reviewed December 17, 2012

When I phoned to book for lunch on Saturday I was advised that they had a large party in so we decided to arrive (after the party's booked time) at 1.00pm ish and have a leisurely drink while deciding what to order. In the end we had a lovely lazy lunch which lasted three hours; due to us taking our time, not through bad service !

We had a voucher for a free bottle of fizz and they kindly added Cassis to the glasses so we had Kir Royales. The members of staff are very knowledgeable about the food and drinks and we had some of their recommendations (good choices !).

Service was excellent, attentive but not fussy, and when our coffee arrived before our puddings and went cold there was no problem replacing it after the puds were eaten. All of our dishes were made with top quality and tasty ingredients. The venison was melt in the mouth and the little venison shepherd's pie (should that be stalker's pie ?!) was wonderfully intense in flavour.

We all four had three courses and coffee and there was a bottle of wine and a beer. We have a RED Privilege card and after the reductions the bill came to £128. Such good value for great food, especially with the little extras of bread with oil & vinegar dip and the sweets with coffee. Our friends envy us having access to the RED group of eateries.

“Amazing !!!”

One of my favorite places in Sheffield. Great atmosphere, British classics with a twist, very knowledgeable and friendly staff. Little complimentary dishes really add to the experience :)
