Stuck for somewhere to go last weekend, I took my granddaughter to Graves Park, and it was quite simply one of the very best days out I have had for quite a long time. You can very easily spend a whole day here, the animal farm kept us amused, and was quite educational, for hours. A tub of animal feed at £1 was money well spent as it let the little one get hands on experience with the goats. A word of warning, get in too close with the cup and it will get snaffled by one of the bigger animals! The walk down to the duck and fish ponds was a steady affair, the train was a welcome attraction as it took you all the way around the park, giving you glimpses into its corners, and it was very well priced and excellent value for the thirty minute ride. The play park, with swings, sand pits etc is very well kept and we managed to spend over two hours in there before making our way up to the Rose Garden Cafe, which I thought was a little bit on the pricy side. ice creams at £1.70 for one scoop, tea and come at over £1.50, meals at over £5.00 and just the basic soup and roll at nearly £4.00 it soon adds up. The bouncy castle was also excellent value coming in at £1.50 a go and with no rush to get the children on and off in the quickest possible time meant our little one could take her time. We saw quite a few people with gazebos etc, there were two or three groups having Birthday parties and by the time we left five hours later, there were loads of Picnicer's enjoying the late afternoon sun. The great British weather got it spot on that day! If its a dry day, take a look at Graves Park.....and take a picnic too!
