“More than Enough”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 8, 2011

I stayed at this hotel for 1 week. It is a very good hotel if you are not looking for a luxurious hotel. The rooms are comfy and clean, well equipped ( TV, Hair dryer ) and with big sofa.
Bathrooms are also clean (Clean towels, Hot water available all the time) You don't get fancy shampoo and stuff in the bathroom, but you get shampoo and soap.
1 problem is there is no free wifi although it is the best business hotel in the area or something like that.
The Hotel is safe. I didnt like the breakfast as it was mainly cooked food (sausage and mashrooms, eggs...) some cereals, fruits and bread... But the Costa located in the lobby was great for me for various cakes and coffee types.
The restaurant is very good, serves very good food and different plates( a main plate and appetizer and a drink for like max 15 Gbp)
My room was not noisy at all...but maybe because i stayed on the last floor.

We were staying over on a Saturday night (2 adults + 2 children) for a function in the city centre. The hotel was extremely conviniently located.

The hotel and our room were very clean and comfortable and the staff were very friendly. The room was a touch warm but we find this with a lot of the budget hotel chains. Bathroom cleanliness was very good and everything functioned as it should with no associated wiered noises from plmbing etc.

Our room was top floor (5th), street side. We heard no noise from outside (kept window closed though). It doesn't seem to be too close to the night club parts of town.

Food : Evening meal was outside as food is too pricy in the hotel, but there's lots of choice nearby in the town centre. (Why have top price food in a budget hotel ?). Breakfast was very good, but we only took one adult to get the two childrens breakfasts free. Otherwise £7.99 is too expensive (even though it was very good).

Overall a great experince - we'd definitely use it again and by all accounts had a better stay than our friends in the Ibis round the corner.

Room Tip: If you want peace, choose a room on the upper floors.

After reading such positive reviews, we were expecting another great Premier Inn experience, but were left disappointed. We booked for a weekend break with some friends and rang the hotel 2 weeks prior to our stay to request rooms close together. We arrived to find we weren't even on the same floor! I appreciate it is difficult to juggle rooms with the sheer number of guests, but a family a couple of doors down told us they were booked in for the same 2 nights, so surely we could have been placed more closely?
The reception staff, whilst efficient, were not as friendly or helpful as those we have previous experience of.
On arrival in our room, I immediately noticed the lack of space. It was a family room, and we had requested a cot, which obviously takes up room, but there was very little space to move between the beds. We resorted to placing the cot on top of one of the beds when not in use. I know this is a city location, but the room was significantly smaller than the one we had in a London or Carlisle Premier Inn.
Initially, everything appeared clean as we have come to expect from Premier Inn, but after getting the children scrubbed and into bed I noticed black specks all around the basin taps and on closer inspection could see a lot of built up grime around the bases and the handles (nothing a scrub with a something like a toothbrush wouldn't sort easily). This obviously breaks down a little on contact with water and seeps around the taps.
We went out for the day after our first night and returned quite late with 2 very tired small boys and found that the cleaning staff hadn't been to our room to empty the bins, top up the tea/coffee etc. I know I could have rung reception, but due to the late hour, I just wanted to get them bathed and into bed without someone coming to do what should really have been done during the day. To be fair, when we mentioned it on checking out, the duty receptionist was very apologetic and said they could have had someone there within 5 minutes, but we didn't know that at the time.
Another niggle, was that the toilets in the hotel bar were obviously not checked. We used them one evening and noticed that there was toilet paper and a crushed drinks carton on the sink unit and one of the sinks was half full of dirty water. This was in exactly the same state at 9am the next morning when we used them during breakfast.
On the upside, the restaurant was excellent and the staff very friendly. We ate there one evening and both mornings and can't fault in. Diane in particular, couldn't have been more helpful during breakfast service and ? Adele (sorry if I got the name wrong) was fantastic with our and our friends' children.
On reflection, I know most of these are relatively minor niggles, but they add up to a disappointing stay. This is our 3rd Premier Inn stay in as many months, and had it been our first, I'm sorry to say it may well have been the last!

If you do decide to stay here only do so if you are on the top floor at the back. As the streets are very noisy, the windows inadequate and if anyone above you the floor-boards are squeaky and hollow. The bar / restaurant is very expensive for the area. Other than that well located for the city centre and car parking for £6.50 per 24 hours (special PI rate)

Room Tip: at the back up high

This is a budget hotel about 5 mins walk from the Crucible and Lyceum theatres, so is very well situated for Sheffield.

When we arrived, we were greeted by a very friendly gentleman. We were early, but were able to leave our bags and go and explore the city. Check-in later was easy and, again, the people were very pleasant.

In fact that is what characterised the stay for us - absolutely everybody was friendly and helpful. You may expect this from reception and restaurant staff - but we found the cleaners lovely and even the man painting the corridor couldn't have been nicer or more helpful.

The rooms were spacious, clean and quiet. Breakfast was plentiful and varied. The restaurant menu was a little limited in healthy choices, but there was still something to suit everybody.

All in all, I would say we had 5-star service at a budget hotel. If what you want is a comfortable place to stay, where you will feel at home, this is the place for you!

Spent a weekend here. The staff were very friendly and very helpful, even letting us check in early at n,o extra cost.

The bed was so comfortable! The room was very clean and cleaners left the room spotless every day!
