We researched Sheffield restaurants prior to visiting and asked a friend in Sheffield for a recommendation. The name Dhera (meaning gathering/collection of people) came up on both ocassions, we emailed 3 days beforehand to check prices and received a prompt reply.
Welcome and service: outstanding on both counts. We were offered 1 of 3 places to seat our party of 8 inc children. I asked for a less central table which was happily agreed to. Attentive waiters-ladies on drinks counter were very helpful. Well done..you were so polite and efficient. Competitors sit up and take note,
Food choices: more than enough veg and non veg starters and mains. Our party tried a bit of everything and especially praised the food in terms of the right quantity of spice. Foods that really were a hit: salad bar, fish pakorahs, barbecue ribs, veg samosa, seekh kebabs, veg curry, melt in the mouth soft fresh naans, onion pakorahs, chargrilled chicken. And the ice cream and chocolate fudge cake were a big hit with the younger members of our group. The gulab jaman was especially delicious. Although compact, the buffet area was clean and well organised.
Price: nothing at all to moan about here because not one of us were left feeling hungry. VFM=go to Dhera. Honestly, if its a case of spending 2 hours in your kitchen slaving away to offer 2 or 3 dishes for a gathering or your family, go to Dhera and choose from around 60+ options including starters mains and desserts. Whats not to like? And no cooker to clean after : )
5 star customer service: we were automatically given a child discount. After we paid and left, our children wanted to sit outside on the verandah. At which point, even though we were no longer restaurant patrons, the manager offered us "manjees" to sit on outside! These are a type of bed frame with weave, used to sleep/sit on in hotter climates. Amazing experience for our children, happily posing for selfies and relaxing outside. We were also offered complimentary tea. At this point, i felt as if we were visiting a favourite uncle.
To all at Dhera (not forgetting the manjee helpers) thank you so much for ending our trip to Sheffield in a fabulous way.
