“Doesn't do what it says on the tin”
Reviewed August 7, 2013

Woodhouse Spiceless. We both like spicy food, not Madras or Vindaloo, but like to have the chili tingle or the coriander sensation after a curry. Unfortunately, the chef at Woodhouse Spice prepared a jalfrezi and a balti without either. The meat was a little chewy and not especially tasty. Our staters were chicken tikka, served on a sizzling plate, and chicken pakora, same pink coated chicken without the sizzle, but coated in batter.
The wine list wasn't extensive, but £14 for a bland bottle of the stuff was disappointing.
Also, the floor covering results in several people slipping as they walk around. Two starters, two bland curries, one rice and a nan bread along with a bottle of ordinary wine cost £44. Paid less elsewhere, had much better meals.

“Average Food”
Reviewed July 17, 2013

Came here with a Groupon deal, from what I had heard of the place I was really looking forward to eating here. The restaurant is a revamped very old house in Woodhouse the ceilings/door frames are low in places (so mind your head) the tables are packed in and can be close together in areas. The food itself is average nothing to rave about, had better take-aways, so was slightly disapointed.

“Family Curry”
Reviewed May 20, 2013

Went here with a Group on voucher and really enjoy it, the character of the building was brilliant, like a old style pub low ceiling and everything. Food was great good flavours and a nice surprise. Me and my family were very please with the meal and the night it self. The staff were very helpful and quick with there service.

“ok with a groupon but lacking in spice!”
Reviewed May 5, 2013

We had a groupon voucher so paid significantly less than the menus price (although they are fairly standard prices really). Drinks reasonably priced. The service was good and waiters attentive. Inside the restaurant could do with a freshen up (plaster coming of wall near us and a cobweb in window-im picky i know). Overall decor, white walls, wooden floor with linen tablecloths. The restaurant had a few other people in, some obviously regulars by the way staff greeted them. The food: starters were lovely (bajais and lamb kebab) rice ok, The curries tried bhuna and rogan josh were just ok but lacked any real indian spices. I wouldnt book again unless i had a groupon. Sorry to say ive had much better

“Groupon or No Groupon...”
Reviewed April 5, 2013

Visited a the curry house to try somewhere new with the groupon voucher. To be honest it wasn't bad for what we paid. But definitely wouldn't have wanted to pay full price. The food was tasteless, and sat next to food slashed up on the 'white' walls wasn't very pleasant. Felt as though the waiters were disinterested and maybe weren't appreciative of our business. I feel quite bad for giving it a poor review.. I'd give a better one if we couldn't have eaten it at home. It's certainly somewhere to go to get your own opinion. Regardless, the menu had lots of choice & specials to chose from. The drinks were reasonably priced too! :) - always a bonus. Yeah, I'd consider going again, only if someone else was paying!
