We booked the restaurant as we had pre booked tickets for a gig that was on the same night. When i rang to book, the lady on the phone said she would give us a table near the front so we could see the band whilst eating however when we were shown to our table (30 minutes after the time we had booked even though there were plenty of free tables), we were at the opposite end of the restaurant and there was a partition up so wherever you were seated, you could not see the band at all! This was a bit annoying but as we had not yet paid for the gig, we decided to stay and just listen to them from where we were seated. After this first hiccup, things didn't seem to pick up as before we gave our order, the waiter reeled off a list of the food that they had run out of, one of which was what we wanted to order. We had been given menus to look through whilst we waited in the bar for our table to be ready. There was no mention at the time that anything had run out which would have been useful.
After deciding on a different meal, we ordered and waited. This was the turn around, the food was amazing! We both ordered the seared sea bass fillet with roasted pepper risotto and a parmesan crisp. It was divine, one of the best meals i have ever had. Then onto dessert, i ordered the chocolate and praline fondant with lavender cream which i was told would be a 15 minute wait but was worth it; how right he was, it was gorgeous!! My boyfriend ordered lemongrass and kaffir lime leaf brûlée with chef’s shortbread which was apparently also amazing!
The staff were helpful and friendly and the restaurant itself was very nicely decorated and had a nice warm feeling. We were also surprised by the prices, the sea bass was £14 and the desserts £5 each, excellent value! Overall, after a rocky start, it turned into a very nice evening. We would definitely return and i would more than likely have the very same meal again!
