“Delicious, beautifully presented food”
Reviewed September 30, 2013

Our party of 4 had a Groupon deal to eat here on one of the bistro nights on 13 September. I must say we had a lovely time eating the delicious and interesting food which was beautifully presented. The staff were also very friendly and made you feel very welcome. We liked the atmosphere too. All in all would recommend this restaurant and we shall definitely return.

“Little Mester's did our wedding catering at Kelham Island Museum”
Reviewed September 28, 2013

We got married at Kelham Island Museum (great venue by the way) on 27th July 2013. We'd looked at a range of outside caterers and decided to go with Little Mester's as they were onsite and really accommodating to our needs. We started off with 120 guests and this rose to nearly 200 for the day with another 50 in the evening - so quite a big do!

We organised our wedding in about 10 weeks and Nicola and David were amazing! I was like a stressed out control freak and the team at Little Mester's worked so hard to put us a ease.

We were given a range of menu options and compared to other caterers, these were excellent, great value for money, but moreover, creative and flexible. You often find that as soon as you mention the word "wedding" caterers add an extra 100% on the cost!!! Little Mester's didn't do that.

There were a few folk with special dietary requirements and Little Mester's catered for them too. A friend of mine is a veggie and she said that the veggie option was the best she's had at a wedding (Morroccan tagine).

On the day, the staff were excellent and very very busy, but calm and collected! The waiting staff deserved a medal, particularly with 200 noisy folk at a wedding! We had the Yorkshire tapas starter - which was mini yorkshire puddings with beef, pigeon pie and lovely other bits and bobs. We then had a huge hog roast, with lots of different salads, breads, potatoes etc, followed by cheese and biscuits. The pork was lovely! Wine was plentiful and we had champagne for the toasts. Little Mester's provided a pay bar for the evening do - excellent and great value compared to other wedding venues. They even prepared pork sarnies and cheese and biscuits for the evening do!

My brother in law, who hates weddings said, "I've got to admit, that was the best wedding do I've ever been to - I really enjoyed it!"

I'd wholeheartedly recommend Little Mester's for outside catering. We still need to head back there for one of the bistro nights, as they gave us a bistro night voucher for 2 as a wedding present.

Thanks so much Little Mester's - you were excellent! See you soon!

Claire and David.

“Lovely Sunday Lunch”
Reviewed September 15, 2013

We have eaten before on a Saturday night and thoroughly enjoyed the meal and atmosphere. Therefore with friends, 7 of us turned up to eat on a Sunday. Drinks and food orders were taken quickly and one thing that is a good move by the oweners was to forget trying to serve real ale through a pump and have a selection of bottled real ale, much easier to manage. Starters were good, Duck Egg, Soup, Ribs - nice selection and very tasty. Yorkshire pudding followed and then the mains. The meat was good both the pork and beef, what a welcome change to be served with thick slices of pink beef, with a lovely flavour. Lots of fresh hot veg, and extra gravy that we asked for was brought promptly. The staff are spot on and polite, the Chef/owner was working his socks off and was also serving food. In summary, the concept is good, the variety of different dishes is super, and the service along with the food is very good - nice quirky setting also. Always nice to support a very good local restaurant. We will continue to dine there and I hope it goes from strength to strength. Angela, John & Elysia x.

“Excellent food”
Reviewed September 15, 2013

Bistro Night with a Groupon voucher but even without the voucher this would still have been excellent value for money as the food was superb. I opted for scallops, duck (both cooked beautifully) and creme brulee whilst other half went for portuguese spicy soup, sea bass and cheese board. All delicious. Wine was good and very reasonable and the room has a nice ambience. There was a bit of a gap between us finishing the starters and the mains coming but this was understandable when the starters were served at super-fast speed within minutes of ordering so can't complain. The service was excellent with friendly but not intrusive staff.
Overall a lovely meal - we would highly recommend and look forward to another visit!

“A superb experience all round”
Reviewed September 14, 2013

Bought a 'Bistro Night' voucher from Groupon and got a very good deal. However, I must say we would happily have paid full price for such an excellent meal! There was a good choice offered for all 3 courses and the food was absolutely delicious - no doubt about it. The presentation was perfect and the time being served between courses was just right. Despite the place being full we didn't feel either rushed nor neglected. Bottle of house wine at a reasonable price and a good pint of local beer available as well. The staff were lovely, attentive and couldn't have been nicer. In addition to the eating experience the setting - in the museum building itself - is both unusual and very appealing. Finally, wonderful ambience and we will definitely go again.
