“Wow, fantastic!”
Reviewed August 25, 2012

We went to Turkuaz on the off chance of them fitting us in early on a Saturday evening with our 9 year old daughter. We have been to Zeugma many times but on the strength of these reviews thought we would give it a try. (The info about where it is exactly in an earlier review was really helpful). Well, I am afraid we won't be going back to Zeugma! The food was delicious, beautifully presented and lots of it. It is fantastic value for the money and the staff couldn't have done more for us. Our daughter thought they were lovely and it was also really good that they offered to package up any food we couldn't eat, (which they did). They have definitely got the edge on Zeugma particularly with the service as even though the food is excellent in Zeugma the service has never been very attentive. We will definitely return.

Excellent food. Brilliant service from lovely people in nice surroundings. A little hard to find your way in but well worth it when you get there.

“new kid on the block”
Reviewed August 22, 2012

whent there with 2 friends last saturday night, because we are going back to the hotel oykun in september our friends thought it would be nice to sample Turkish food, what a brilliant night we had, the food was delicious and the atmosphere lively, this eatery has only been open 6 weeks but i can see it going from strength to strength in the coming weeks, the owner actually served us and was so friendly and attentive to our needs, at the end of our meal he gave us all a complimentary drink on the house, not only that he left us the bottle so we could help ourselves, now thats what \i call service, top marks all round this is a must for the future.

“A hidden gem!”
Reviewed August 18, 2012

We visited this restaurant on a Friday night at around 8pm and it was reasonably quiet, although I cannot understand why! I believe there are two parts to this strange building (the whole thing is up a flight of stairs) as at first we walked into the bar area before being taken to the main room.

The staff were very friendly and attentive, and happy to make recommendations. We went with a bottle of white Turkish wine on the recommendation of the waiter and were very happy with it. We were also given complimentary warm bread which was beautiful, and olives.

We began with the mixed hot starter for two people. It consisted of calamari, turkish sausage, feta and spinach parcels and halloumi. The starters were good but let down by tired looking salad garnish.

For our main, I had the lamb skewer with rice and a side salad and everything about the dish was perfect. The pieces of lamb were huge and so tender. The marinade complimented the meat really well and the rice was lovely, just enough! It came on a bed of flat bread, but I was just too full to eat it!

My partner had the Iskender with minced lamb which looked great.

We didn't have a dessert as we were both too full, but my partner did have some complimentary turkish apple tea which was very fresh and the perfect end to the meal. One of our waiters (I didn't get his name, he may have been the manager?) also gave us a complimentary shot of sambuca each, and it was at that moment that Turkuaz became my new favourite Turkish restaurant!

I think the atmosphere was a bit lack-luster, but perhaps we ate a bit early? It's a new restaurant and easy to overlook if you don't know about it. I know there was a recent offer on Groupon, which will hopefully get this place the attention it deserves.

The bill came to £46 for the starters, two mains and a bottle of wine. They do offer 10% student discount every night and 20% for NHS workers Monday-Thursday.

If you want a great meal with accommodation waiters and huge portions in interesting (albeit different) surroundings, give this place a visit! You won't be disappointed :-)

“Brilliant night out”
Reviewed August 16, 2012

Just been to Turkuaz for a friends birthday and had the best night out for ages. The staff are so friendly and nothing is too much trouble. Tables were moved for dancing and the staff (Sunny) and one of the chef's joined in for a bit of dancing - absolutely amazing night and will definately be going again....soon. Everyone enjoyed the food, the Kleftiko was gorgeous and thoroughly enjoyed by those that ordered it and the ones that tried it are going back again for it and everyone elses meals were equally as good. The restaurant is spotless and spacious and can't wait to go back.
