“Wrong room”
Reviewed May 18, 2011

Booked family room ended up with Double bed and Z-bed as although this was booked online 3 months in advance, I was told that someone at Sheffield Ibis had not spotted this was for a family and just allocated us a standard Double room. Two sleepless nights, Z-bed was uncomfortable/squeeky, room was unusually hot despite it being quite mild outside, there were large groups who were quite noisy and the lack of furnishings in the corridors of a budget hotel means sound is not absorbed so well.

Otherwise staff were helpful and apologetic about the room muck-up and offered a few drinks vouchers. With the hotel being so close to Ponds Forge Pool I presume you get a lot of young swimmers visiting for competitions and this could be the reason why there were some noisy voices late at night.

All the staff were very polite and helpful, the hotel is within easy walking distacne from Sheffield train station. The room was clean and tidy with facilities to make hot drinks.
The bar and breakfast area were well laid out.

On arrival at Reception the greeting was quite professional and checkin was reasonably quick. There was a small notice on the Reception Desk about possible disruption during certain hours!! When we reached the room, we were impressed by the room but hit by a pungent smell of smokers leftovers despite a notice on the bed NO SMOKING. Overall, this hotel may be okay when the road works have finished but its a shame there wasn't a warning about them when I booked on-line!!!???

Typical basic twin room with great shower, Clean functional - suited us for our 1 night uni trip visit. great location 10 mins walk from train station- next to tram stop, city pool and city centre. Some people have commented it could be a bit iffy on an evening but if you stick to main roads and take walkway to tram its just great. the staff were all friendly helpful and so accommodationg. I could not fault it. if you needed anything they got it right away. Coffee and tea in room tv with basic channels but you can pay for extra and wifi so all in all very very good. Beds were ok - midweek it was quiet we were not bothered by any noise and a bonus you can open the bedroom window!. I would stay again its not luxurious but is very acceptable at £36 per night what can you say Great Value!!

Room Tip: we booked through the Train Line- Great deal!

A well located budget hotel within easy walking distance of the main station and close to bus interchange and real trams! Friendly service from reception staff, quick book in. Room functional and a bit small but it is budget and it was clean- B'fast was good choice and friendly staff on morning shift.
Worst - Food especially bacon kept warm is not brill.
Best - The shower on the room was great.
