We stayed here with our 5 year old son in July during the heatwave. Having stayed in 3 hotels within a week (visiting various friends), we were pleased that this one had air con unlike the others.
We stayed in a room overlooking the car park on the 6th floor. There was no outside noise, nor could we hear any neighbouring guests. The beds were really comfortable, and our son was pleased that he had a double bed (from a sofa bed) all to himself. We all had a choice of firm or soft pillows.
The bathroom had a huge shower. We'd asked for a bath if possible as our son hates showers, but we were advised upon check-in that none of the rooms have baths. However, we managed ok as, unlike many hotels, the shower hose wasn't fixed so we could just run the water close to him.
The room had a good supply of tea and coffee making items. There was also a desk and chair for anyone wishing to work from the room. We were disappointed that WIFI wasn't free, and chose not to use it.
Our stay included breakfast, which was pretty average compared to the lovely accommodation. The cooked breakfast consisted of sausages, watery scrambled eggs and beans. The 'continental' breakfast was also limited in choice of cereals, and the yoghurts had a weird gel-like consistency which I personally found inedible; as was the cappuccino from the drinks machine (but you could pay to have a hand-made Costa coffee from the bar).
The restaurant menu seemed 'grown up' and we couldn't find much suitable for our son, so ate at a nearby Weatherspoons. But the meals being brought out looked quite nice and diners seemed to be enjoying them.
We parked on-site which cost £5 for 24 hours. The receptionist advised that the NCP car park charges £10 for 24 hours. There is no ticket to display though - reception merely keep a note of your car registration number, which I found a bit strange.
All in all, I would recommend this hotel. It's very clean, modern, and comfortable. We only paid £47 for B&B for the three of us, via Laterooms.com, so can't fault it for the price (even despite the poor breakfast).
Short walk to shops and Pond Forge Leisure Centre. Was a bit of a pain getting back to the motorway due to the one-way systems though.
