Reviewed July 31, 2013

We stayed here with our 5 year old son in July during the heatwave. Having stayed in 3 hotels within a week (visiting various friends), we were pleased that this one had air con unlike the others.
We stayed in a room overlooking the car park on the 6th floor. There was no outside noise, nor could we hear any neighbouring guests. The beds were really comfortable, and our son was pleased that he had a double bed (from a sofa bed) all to himself. We all had a choice of firm or soft pillows.
The bathroom had a huge shower. We'd asked for a bath if possible as our son hates showers, but we were advised upon check-in that none of the rooms have baths. However, we managed ok as, unlike many hotels, the shower hose wasn't fixed so we could just run the water close to him.
The room had a good supply of tea and coffee making items. There was also a desk and chair for anyone wishing to work from the room. We were disappointed that WIFI wasn't free, and chose not to use it.
Our stay included breakfast, which was pretty average compared to the lovely accommodation. The cooked breakfast consisted of sausages, watery scrambled eggs and beans. The 'continental' breakfast was also limited in choice of cereals, and the yoghurts had a weird gel-like consistency which I personally found inedible; as was the cappuccino from the drinks machine (but you could pay to have a hand-made Costa coffee from the bar).
The restaurant menu seemed 'grown up' and we couldn't find much suitable for our son, so ate at a nearby Weatherspoons. But the meals being brought out looked quite nice and diners seemed to be enjoying them.
We parked on-site which cost £5 for 24 hours. The receptionist advised that the NCP car park charges £10 for 24 hours. There is no ticket to display though - reception merely keep a note of your car registration number, which I found a bit strange.
All in all, I would recommend this hotel. It's very clean, modern, and comfortable. We only paid £47 for B&B for the three of us, via Laterooms.com, so can't fault it for the price (even despite the poor breakfast).
Short walk to shops and Pond Forge Leisure Centre. Was a bit of a pain getting back to the motorway due to the one-way systems though.

Dear Guest,

Thank you for your feedback on your stay.

I am pleased that you benefitted from our air conditioning system in the rooms, this is certainly a bonus for guests during the summer months.

Please do be aware for future visits to Sheffield, that we do sell WIFI inclusive rates, which offer great value for a guest room and to use the internet for the whole of your stay. We do also offer free internet and printing from the 2 computers in the lobby if people chose not to pay the additional fee for WIFI.

I am sorry that you were not fully satisfied with the breakfast on offer. We are limited by the variety in which we can offer our guest due to the regulations set by the franchisee, however this should not take away from the quality of the food on offer and we are making every attempt to continuously improve our breakfast offering so we do appreciate your feedback on this matter.

We do take pride in our dinner offering and we have had only but positive comments on our menu, please ensure that if you do decide to visit the hotel again, that you allow a member of our team to assist you in offering a suitable and alternative option for your children to eat.

In regards to the car parking, your car registration is entered into a database monitored by an external company, who use cameras to operate and monitor the cars coming in and out of the car park. The car park is also fitted with 4 CCTV cameras to also monitor the general safety of our guest cars.

We are happy to hear that you would recommend the hotel and I do hope that the next time you are in Sheffield, you chose to stay with us once again.

Excellent value! I've stayed here in 2012 and was pleased to see it's just as good. Easy free parking in city centre. Good room with large TV etc. You can walk to many good restaurants nearby. Will be back

We stayed here to attend a concert at the City Hall. The parking is easy, although there is a charge. Rooms are clean and comfortable, with a choice of pillows. We had a drink in the bar on our return, and it was lively. The breakfast was free and a good choice on offer, although the scrambled eggs were watery and unpleasant ! This hotel is fine for one or two nights in the city.

Modern clean hotel with easy parking (you pay) and a great location literally just off the "beaten track". My room was clean with a decent shower and space. The staff were very warm and welcoming and when I had problems in logging on were very helpful (downside to this is that you have to pay for wi-fi). The layout of the public areas in the hotel is great with a nice restaurant area plus outside if the weather allows. The menu is fairly stodgy ie; lots of fried stuff and dips but it's tasty, served quickly and does have a choice. I would recommend it definitely for business, it's very efficient. As to leisure I reckon given it's location it would be great for weekend breaks.

Room Tip: No so much to find a good room but when going to the hotel, ignore the NCP on your right as you appr...

Overall not a bad hotel. My main gripe is the breakfast. When we booked the hotel (through Booking.com) we were asked if we had any requirements. We stated that we wanted double beds in both rooms. This message did not seem to have been registered with the hotel as the staff asked us what beds we wanted. Similarly we had stated at the time of booking that we were vegetarian and could we have veggie sausages to go with the "Full english breakfast" along with mushrooms and tomatoes. The breakfast choice we were offered was scambled egg, and baked beans only. There were meat sausages but no veggie option. We asked the staff if they had any and they said they didn't. In this day and age it is very dissapointing that hotels of this size are unable to provide vegetarian options particularly when reqested well in advance.
