we stayed on a Thursday night in an upgraded corner room, very spacious with double aspect windows overlooking the river and car park. The hotel is quite new and the design is modern. However, design should be fit for purpose and some of the designs are just wrong. The toilet seat does not stay up because the vanity unit is trendy and too close. The shower is huge and a smaller shower would allow a different design. The sink is a trendy stand alone bowl but set too high for my 5' 2" wife. There is a lovely designed coat hook that may hold a dressing gown but not a towel. For the size of the room the bathroom could be bigger. The other issue is the bed was very hard, we both had sore hips and shoulders the next day.
The staff were all excellent and the free buffet breakfast better than expected. Overnight 24 hr parking at £5 is reasonable. With the Hilton and Holiday Inn all in the same area there is a choice but I suppose the value you receive is a big factor. Personally I would prefer to pay more for a better nights sleep. The location is 5 minutes walk to the city centre.More
