great little place!!! would recommend this to younger visitors for sure( my 14 year old wasnt so impressed, until they let him hold the owl!!) We visited on a VERY cold day in half term and it was packed. The butterfly house was fantastic being able to get so up close to all the birds and butterflys in there. the shows we saw were very entertaining and very informative. theres obviously loads if work being done to improve the place further, and i think it definatly deserves another trip, but in warmer weather!! the only downside to the trip was that we didnt get there till half eleven and all the tractor rides had been taken. my four boys were very disapointed :(

Must admit...my little boy (nearly 3yrs old) isn't always a huge fan of farm / zoo type places and gets bored quite quickly with the animals and prefers to find the playgrounds. However, we all had a fabulous day today exploring the Butterfly House and all the animals it has to offer.

The area itself is beautifully laid out. Not sure how long it has been there but it all seems really new still which in itself is a credit to how well kept it is. There's lots of different animals there including birds of prey, meerkats, prairie dogs, chipmunks, farmyard animals, reptiles...all have really nice enclosures and runs that seem to be in keeping with their natural habitat. The butterfly house was wonderful. My little boy was a little unnerved with the butterflies flitting so close to him, but he did get used to it.

Plenty of fun things to keep little ones (and not so little ones!) engaged. Aside from the animals, there were talks / displays happening throughout the day, activity posts, woodland walks and great outdoor playground areas.

Would highly recommend a visit here. We thought it was good value for money (adults were £8, children under 3yrs free, options for family passes etc.). The cafe wasn't too expensive and if you manage to pick a nice warm day, there's plenty of picnic space available.

Will be visiting again.

Despite freezing cold weather we still had a fantastic day out. Our 8 year old and 22 month old both loved it and so did we - particularly at the price, we've paid twice much for half the enjoyment at other places! Short shows/talks every half hour which were excellent. Didn't have to walk miles which was a bonus with the little one. Animals to stroke & feed. Kids thrilled to hold an owl. Could have stayed in the butterfly house forever - lots of birds and butterflies to see. Good food at reasonable prices in cafe. Great play area for both age groups. We just wish this was where we live as we can't wait to go again!!

We are not local to the area but as we were stopping in a local B&B we thought it looked like it was worth a visit. Booked the Owl Prowl which was fantastic and got up close with all the birds. Don't listen to the reviews about 'overpriced' food, it's far from it. £1.40 for a pot of tea, £4.95 for a huge pasty, mash and veg. However, there are plenty of places to sit for a picnic. I wouldn't bother with buying the animal food though as loads of people feed the ducks and chickens (so much so that they weren't interested in any more food) and the goats will gobble a whole bag in a blink of an eye. The whole place seemed quite modern and clean and lots of helpful and knowlegable staff around.

Tips - wrap up warm if its cold outside, bring your own little picnic if you've got a lot of mouths to feed, and, take your time when looking around as there are lots of things you see that might not be obvious at first.
