We took our daughter to Tropical Butterfly House for her 30th birthday treat today (mid October) and had a fantastic time! We assumed we'd just be looking at butterflies - however there's lots to do, lots to see, helpful staff on hand and always a display or show of some sort going on - from flying bird displays to hands on with creepy crawlies and of course, butterflies in abundance!
As a break from the animals you might like to take a break in the cafe which was clean and offered a selection of hot meals as well as cakes and biscuits and hot drinks. The staff were polite and helpful. The toilet facilities were spotlessly clean, and everywhere you went there were hand gels or washing facilities.
The entry fee was £8 for adults and (I think) £7 for children. There was also a small fee for animal foods which can be bought when you pay your entry fee. We opted for a bundle which cost £2.50 and consisted of foods suitable for all the animals we encountered. Well worth paying for this. The gift shop also sells a small amount of food for the animals.
Would we go again? Most certainly! A great day out for young and old alike. Don't be put off if you don't have children - you will still have a fab time!
Bring along some old pennies (pre decimal) as there's a machine in the cafe that takes these old coins.
Don't forget to bring along your camera!
Wear warm clothing if you come during the colder months as quite a lot of the attractions are outdoors.
