“Peaceful walks even in a city”

The Botanical Gardens

Been here several times in last two years. It's nice to visit in different seasons - the magnolias were fantastic this year! Nice little café serving light meals as well as hot drinks, & ice cream for these hot summer days. Also a little shop with cards, nature posters etc.
Only drawback is lack of on-site parking - you need to park on the main road which is free, if you can find a space... There are also meter-spots on adjoining roads.
The gardens are well tended; the trees are beautiful, there is a Redwood (Sequoiadendron,) a Swamp Cypress, huge conifers!
!Beware - the squirrels can hear the rustle of a paper bag at 200yds - they run to you!!
Enjoy a peaceful walk, take a picnic, (don't forget the squirrels food!) breathe the fresh air and enjoy the restful lawns & borders

Thank Anne G

Beautiful park with lots to see. The vast open space if so refreshing and the upkeep of the place is faultless. The kids had great fun running around and playing.

lovely, intimate setting for a concert venue, framed with trees and utterly peaceful, staffed by volunteers and money going to local charities. Will be back another time to actually view the plants!
