“A true oasis of calm and beauty”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 13, 2014

I knew I would have two to three hours to kill waiting for my car to be serviced, so I checked Google maps for something near the dealers. The Botanical Gardens were only about a 15 minute walk and had the added benefit of being able to take my dog. What a good choice! We had the fortune of a nice sunny day so we could take our time and admire the displays. Within minutes of entering the park the sounds of traffic had disappeared, leaving the sounds of just the birds

The plant displays were beautifully kept and presented. There was even one area dedicated to flora from specific areas of the world. We came across a gentleman tending one of the flower beds and learnt a great deal about the gardens history, which was most interesting and well worth a bit of reading up on.

My one regret was the fact I had my dog with me so I felt unable to go into the pavilion. It may well be that dogs are allowed, but I preferred not to take him in, however you could get a sense of the incredible displays through the windows.

Bench seating is more than adequately catered for throughout the gardens so ideal to sit and enjoy the tranquility.

An incredibly well done to the gardeners, volunteers and everybody else involved with maintaining the gardens.

By the way. More incredibly, it's free admission.

A lovely way to spend an afternoon.very surprised and delighted no entrance fee.as previous reviews could do to have a little more upkeep in places but still well done to Sheffield.coffee and scone in the cafe which was lovely.will certainly be telling my friends about it.

“A true horticultural gem of Sheffield!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 10, 2014

Wow! Whatever season you go here it is fantastic. Feed squirrels, explore the lovingly restored pavilion, dine at the cafe that has cafe prices for restaurant standard food. A park of the people. You just find yourself returning to this place time and time again. And the best bit? It's absolutely FREE!!!

“A good afternoon out”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 8, 2014

You don't have to spend money to enjoy yourself. This is a pleasant stroll in a quiet area of Sheffield. It is a place to visit on a good weather day. Strolling around in the grounds looking at the flora and fauna is only part of the visit, I can recommend taking a picnic. If you want to make a full day out I would also recommend a visit to the Weston Park Museum. Again there are extensive grounds to walk in but the main part of the visit should be inside the museum. Once again the visit is free and if the weather is good it is worth taking a picnic, but there is also a good cafe inside the museum.
