trying to retrace my younger days I took my Granddaughters to Rivelin and was very much surprised how little it had changed from the late 50's to now .
The sun was shining and the park was full but not over crowded my two granddaughters played on the swings and slides in fact everything while I sat on the benches provided that were plentiful .
there is a wonderful nature trail as well has a marvellous paddling area and for the older a fishing pond .
Rivelin is well worth a visit and with only a few more miles down the road there is Ladybower Reservoir

Had a lovely walk through the trail. Lots of beautiful scenery, waterfalls and stepping stones keeps things entertaining. At the end of the trail is a lovely park, cafe and plenty of space for your own picnic. There is also some shallow river where children can paddle and fish with nets and there are some great shallow splash pools just behind the river. Everything is free, even the parking so all it cost us was the price of an ice-cream. Will definitely be returning soon.

I'll start with the postcode I used from trip advisor it took me to the wrong place the postcode for the start is s6 5fa(furthest from the Cafe) s6 5ge(parking near the Cafe). But once we got there it was really fun for a 9 year old who wants an adventure and for a dog that wants to walk off her lead. There is stepping stones over water and different walk ways to take. Another great place in south Yorkshire

We take this walk a few times a year and each season delivers a different atmosphere. Starting from Malin Bridge heading up the valley you can follow the river all the way into the Peak District through Moscar and onto Stanage Edge. Safe for children and away from the traffic , this can be a nice Sunday stroll or the beginning of a trek into the Peak District.
