I took my grandson to this place a few years ago and he got to sit in the front seat on the fire engine ride. He absolutely loved it. Very informative and very friendly and helpful staff.

“Fire and Police Museum - Needs revamping”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 15, 2012

Ok museum - needs money spending on it - toilets poor, kids didnt enjoy even with the fire engine ride. Tiles falling off walls - I know it's old but things like this could be fixed.

“wow what a hidden treasure”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 9, 2012

came here years ago and it never seamed to change always same old stuff grumpy old staff but know
what a difference there are new exhibits new rooms new display areas have a go stuff just amazing and still more work being carried out on our visit
the curator is only a young guy but he has with his team transformed the museum to go from the brink of closing down to be open 5 days a week and 7 days during school holidays
there is know an outside area with fire engines and mines rescue vehicles they are getting ready for an outside activity area where u can have a go on the hoses
and it was only £4 an adult
well worth the money and gave us more to spend in the fantastic gift shop
10 out of 10 well done guys

“This is what all independent musuems should be like!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 5, 2012

We had a brilliant afternoon at this museum - and it is outstanding value for money. The museum includes the original police cells and various collections of memorabilia, but it is the vehicles and the staff which make this a really special visit. Visitors are welcome to climb aboard various displays, try on uniforms and touch some of the exhibits. The Fire Engine ride was brilliant, and hidden away at the top of the museum is an extensive model railway. The staff and volunteers at the museum are knowledgable, passionate and fun, the gift shop, although small sells some interesting items and there is a nice cafe as well. This is all packed into a historic building, which adds atmosphere to the experience. The Museum is currently undergoing further developments - we can't wait to return later this year to see the new displays, exhibitions and activities.
