This is an excellent gallery and it is really handy that it is close to the shops and transport. I'm not really an art person but I did enjoy looking at the exhibits including a real Damien Hirst! There was a lot to see with lots of different styles to suit all tastes.

This excellent little gallery sits on the third floor of the central library. It has a very good mix of paintings, prints and sculpture. I particularly liked the prints and lino cut prints as well as the impressionist paintings. There was a tiny cafe tucked away in the gallery serving a good range of cakes etc as well as proper Yorkshire tea. The shop also had some great items especially the local honey and sweets. The staff were nice. A nice quiet place away from the noisy city streets.

Carefully check the opening times and you will get access to this little treasure house. The eclectic collection should hold something to please all tastes and free too! You can skip the Warhol (or whatever temporary exhibition is on) as I did and find a good Turner, a superb Burne-Jones, Lowry and lots more.

I go the Sheffield roughly twice a year, and pop into Graves Art Gallery every time. I am always sad to see that it not more busy - more enjoyable for me, but it would be nice if it was more popular. Really nice collection of art, from the sixteenth century through to the modern day. Good collection of twentieth century portraiture, as well as a few gems from earlier periods, including a lovely Burne Jones. There is normally a temporary exhibition too, which is left excellent - there is currently an intertidal collection of Warhol paintings. Good shop and nice little cafe. It is on the top floor of the building, so it is a bit of a climb but it is well worth it. If you are in the city, do call in.

The Graves Art Gallery occupies the top floor of the library building in Sheffield. The gallery has a good range of art including paiting, photography and some sculpture.

Th gallery is free and has a shop and cafe. If you are spending the day in the Sheffield CBD I would recommend a visit, however, I wouldn't specially plan to go there.
