“Kindly and clean”
Reviewed April 11, 2010

We spent two nigths at the Ivory House Hotel. We were very kindly welcomed bij Mrs. Sally. The room was well equiped and very clean. The shared bathroom also. The beds are of good quality. We enjoyed the excellent full English breakfast. The hotel is about 20 minutes walking from the centre of Sheffield. In the neighbourhood are plenty of restaurants.
The price of the hotel is very suitable to the accommodation.

I was here for a week in August 2009. Located on a quiet street 15 minutes walk from the city centre and train station makes a great location.
The room and shared bathroom were always spotlessly clean clean clean. The house is bright, airy and always smells fresh. The cut flowers add a real ' home ' feel.
Sally was the perfect host. She offered a lot of advice and if she didn't know she found the answer.
I have stayed in a lot of B&B's, some costing a lot more. For the price, The Ivory Hotel is undoubtably one of the best that I have stayed in.
An unequivocal recommendation.

The Ivory House is clean, quiet and safe, perfect for someone like me, travelling alone for business or pleasure, or to visit a person in one of the universities or hospitals. The location is great -- only a 20-minute walk from the city centre. The number 22 bus also runs past the door every 15 minutes and I found this very helpful when linking to the excellent transport system, or when weighed down by my suitcase. A 10-minute walk takes you to the London Road, and a wonderful array of restaurants with food from all over the world.

I understand there are also larger and family rooms; a family of 6 was staying while I was there, though I didn't hear or see them until breakfast! This was always a huge English fry-up, but more modest cereal-and-toast options were available too.

If you are looking for a luxurious hotel with plush furniture and servile staff, then this is not the place for you! But if you want somewhere that’s friendly, family-run, unpretentious and inexpensive, then The Ivory House is excellent value. Thank you for making me welcome at a hard time!

Found this hotel last minute from the tourist information board, only stayed the one night for a concert at the arena, but were still made to feel very welcome, service was brilliant, and staff very friendly. Very reasonable prices and an excellent breakfast in the morning. They were very helpful when it came to public transport advice, went out there way to help, would definately use again.

Whole family stayed here for the weekend of student son's 21st birthday. The rooms are clean and comfortable, the staff friendly and able to give advice on public transport.

A good place to stay for people visiting their children who are in hall at University, who don't want to spend most of their budget on a place to stay. Good value for money.

Convenient for the city centre.
