“An attractive, modern Indian restaurant that serves very good food!!!”
Reviewed March 13, 2013

First impressions were good as the restaurant is attractive, modern and spotlessly clean. The waiter was friendly and the service was good. I ordered a starter of prawn puree which arrived quickly and tasted OK; I've had worse but I've also had better. However, the main course was absolutely delicious. I ordered the Panahar Special Delight and indeed it was. The dish consisted of tasty mixed tikka meats cooked with onions, green peppers & tomatoes and a lovely bhuna sauce. I can honestly say that it was one of the nicest Indian meals I've ever had. My girlfriend ordered a margarita pizza and she didn't like it very much but that serves her right for being a vegetarian. I would definitely recommend Panahar and we will be going back (but not for pizza)!!!

“Love this place!”
Reviewed February 8, 2013 via mobile

Panahar is one of my favourite places to eat in Sheffield. The food is so tasty, the service is amazing (the staff are so friendly and nice) and it is amazing value for money. Plus it's bring your own wine. If you want somewhere nice to drink before go across the road to the Rising Sun pub - they also have an agreement with the restaurant so you can take over any drinks you want to the panahar with you.

Iv been to the panahar numerous times and will recommend it to anyone.

“Great food in modern, light setting”
Reviewed July 1, 2012 via mobile

Good range of traditional and contemporary dishes. Food was really tasty, ingredients fresh and "hot" did really live up to the promise. Nice light environment with modern decor. Great service.

“Great for after the pub”
Reviewed February 3, 2012

Conveniently sited opposite The Rising Sun in Nether Green, so just right for calling into after a trip to the pub. The Rising Sun will happily let you take glasses across; sadly they've lost all their 4-pint jugs, so that option is no longer available.

Modern decor with 'Contemporary' section of the menu - very Fulwood! Opted for the Special Tandoori Mass (fish), which was fine, if a little bland; I've had better. We had a selection of meals and everyone else was happy with theirs. Popadums and pickles but no other starters - instead we went for a selection of sides with our main meal -these were also good.

Verdict: Standard and reliable suburban Indian restaurant, but nothing out of the ordinary. £16/head, which without drinks did seem a bit pricey.
Bizarrely, it's billed as "Contemporary Indian Cuisine & Pizzeria".No evidence of pizzas inside - I suspect that's just a takeway thing.
