we found this after visiting a Sheffield hospital for treatment. Unprepossessing from the outside but very pleasant dining area once you are inside. An imaginative menu and not too expensive. Super service and good food. Definitely a step up from your usual pub/restaurant.

Held as part of the Broomhill festival, this was one of the best food and drink tasting events we've been to. 6 courses, 6 well chosen beers as accompaniments, with a short talk before each course to explain why the combination was chosen. In such a student area it's nice to see somewhere that sets itself up as a destination for people who are serious about food and drink, while remaining appealing to all. Service was impeccable, each course cooked to perfection, especially the Bavette steak which was deliberately very rare - delicious. Although not cheap it was excellent value, in fact we couldn't quite finish every course or every beer. This place has a real touch of class, is excellent as a pub but the food is so much better than normal pub food. Even the title gastropub doesn't do it justice. One of the best places to eat in Sheffield.

Went with a group of friends recently for dinner. Excellent atmosphere, efficient service, but felt the menu was quite limited. I wasn't sure what to have, but chose the burger, which, in fact, was one of the best I have had. The portions were enormous and, although I wanted to, I couldn't finish my meal. One of the party, a vegetarian, had three enormous skewers of vegetables and I think only ate two. We felt the wine was expensive at £19.50 per bottle and I agree with G_Skalley that everything was a little overpriced. All in all though, a pleasant experience and would probably return.

This is a really nice gastro pub, has a great decor and a nice warm atmosphere. It has a dedicated dining area and a full menu of neuvo Brititsh cuisine. The food is really good and well presented, portion sizes are good as well. I think the food is slightly over-priced for a pub, but the food is restaurant quality, and service is top notch too. The bar has a great range of beers and wine. Definately worth a visit!

Four of us went here for Sunday lunch, and whilst we did enjoy it overall, the food was slighty disappointing. We all went for the Sunday Roast - 2 beef, 2 pork - not exactly cheap at £12.95 each for the beef and £10.95 each for the pork. The presentation was ok and the portions were substantial enough but it could have all been a bit better - the veg was all a bit undercooked and quite hard to cut; the sauage stuffing (with the pork) was a bit on the 'sticky' (and small) side; and the meat was VERY fatty (as per other reviews) - so much so that I could hardly eat any of mine. On the plus side, the roasties and the gravy were good! Though, at nearly £60 for food and drinks, we did expect more. The place itself has a lovely atmosphere, is set out really well, and is very convenient for us so we are likely to go back - we just hope the food is a bit better next time.
