We called here on a Sunday afternoon hoping to eat although we hadnt booked. That was no problem and we were given a table for two. The restaurant was busy with lots of occupied tables. We ordered drinks then perused the menu which i thought wasn't very extensive. We went for the Sunday roasts and i had the pork roast and my other half had the trio which was chicken, beef and lamb i think,. The meals did take a while to arrive and when they did the looked good but i thought there could have been a little more meat and the veg between us two was a little stingy as well. The food was nice and tasty but some parts of the meal were only tepid and others quite hot. We ate it all though and also had dessert. Some of the desserts were only £3 when you had a main meal but i think all the desserts should have been £3 when you had a meal. All in all it was okay and if it wasnt as expensive we would probably go back but i feel £42.25 for two sunday roasts, 2 desserts and a pint and half of lager is a bit steep.

We had a large party, 13 adults and 4 children, booked for a birthday treat on a Sunday afternoon. Good points the waiter was very good, the food was pleasant enough although at the top end of the acceptable price range. One person had to order 3 times before able to find something on the menu that was still available at 1pm. Service took a looooong time and the food was served by one person so staggered over some considerable time and then a couple of people had to wait an extended period after that. One meal was served cold but the diner was not prepared to have it go back into the black hole of the kitchen, especially as her vegetable did not appear until she was half way through what had been deliver, in contrast they were steaming hot. The final straw concerned the bill. Three of the children had pizza, on the bill were 3 pizza and chips, when I found a waiter and pointed out that none of the children had had chips a message was passed back to the table that the chips were not costed separately - although chips were on the menu a £2.95. When I complained again that I thought it despicable to pass a message and not to respond to me the complainant a manager did appear and apologise for that, however, the only reparation offered was that we could have the chips delivered to the table now. By now the time was 3pm and I declined as a completely unreasonable offer to people in the course of putting on their coats to leave. In the poet's immortal words "I don't think we will be going again".

Have eaten here a number of times on student replenishment runs to Sheffield, and always been impressed. The interior is bright and cheerful, and the staff are friendly and welcoming. Food is always well presented, with a widespread and imaginative menu for a country-style pub. The burgers are excellent, as is the fish & chips, my personal favourite being the piri piri chicken. But the pancetta hash to start is worth the drive to Sheffield alone! Reasonably priced and hassle-free so would certainly recommend.

We have visited the Prince of Wales several times now and have enjoyed the food and service on each and every visit. The food has been consistently good and extremely well presented. The Piri Piri Chicken is gorgeous, as are the Seabass fillets. The staff are always very pleasant , helpful and efficient. Complimentary bread and oil are brought out to your table, which is a very nice touch. The Restaurant has a lovely atmosphere and excellent music is played all of the time. We have a fantastic evening every time we visit.

We meet up with relatives who lived locally and were enjoyed the food, choice and wine. The service was friendly and attentive, and added to our enjoyment.
The only minus was the noisy and over-powering music that made conversation difficult with one member unable to join in. Car parking was adequate and there was access for wheelchair users.
