“Totally cocked up with the booking”
Reviewed September 9, 2010

Stayed here as we were visiting friends in the area for about a week. We specifically booked a particular room and received email confirmation that the room would be ours. When we arrived the Hotel was in the middle of a wedding and when I showed them the confirmation of the booking which contained the room number we discovered that the room had been given to someone else. No sincere apology given just a pitiful excuse that someone hadn't done their job correctly.

Quite sad and very irritating the staff didn't really seem to care. Had a visit from the housekeeper the next day and she did try to sooth ruffled feathers. We stayed most of the time with friends so cannot comment on meals, etc.

Stayed here for one night @£56 the room was a good size the bar food was good sandwich was £4 & well worth £4 in the evening we we're going to eat jn the restaurant but decided to chill on big sofas had a great burger for £9 can't fault the food the other meal we're also good. We didn't have breakfast included. When asking the price we were a bit surprised it was £12.95 I didn't see what you got for the price but would have to have been amazing for that price so we went somewhere else for breakfast shame but for 3 of use that would have been nearly £40. There was a rip in the bed sheet but that's all I can say was wrong. Would defiantly stay again.

I stay here quite a lot for work the staff are friendly and the rooms very clean and comfortable. Much of the food is locally produced and well cooked, especially the home-made bread. The older part of the hotel was home to Mary Boleyn, of the 'Other Boleyn Girl' fame this has been added to with new extensions providing a modern and relaxing bar. The hotel is situated a fair way out of Sheffield making it nice and quite but if you want to go into town for the night-life you will need to get a taxi.

We stayed at the hotel last week as we decided to treat ourselves to a night away. We were heading to the are sheffield arena to watch Michael Buble. We don't live to far away so it was a nice treat.
We checked in at 2pm, and spent the afternoon in the bar which was lovely. What made it even more special was the staff changed the bar music to Michael Buble which we thought was such a lovely touch.
The hotel offered a taxi service to the arena that was included in the price of our room. We paid £99 and we had a great room, the transport to the arena and back, plus breakfast for both of us.
The receptionist offered us sandwiches when we arrived back at 11.45pm and breakfast was fantastic with the staff asking how our night was when we came down in the morning. We really enjoyed our stay and will certainly be back.

This is a very good looking hotel on the S of Sheffield. You should be aware that it is a popular weddingt venue, which is the source ofr many of the complaints in other revues. Make sure that you ask for a room overlooking the car park, which are quieter. You may have to contend with other guests who don't know how to behave in public hotels, but generally when I stay here, it is quiet and satisfactory. I have not eaten here, and might suggest somewhere else.
The "new block" is mainly quite alrge motel type rooms, which are just thjat. The "character rooms" in the main block sometimes have squeaky floor boards, uncertain plumbing and noisy rooks in the trees at the front. These rooms are quaint but can be noisy.
The only complaint I might have is that the duvet was very thick, and therefore very hot. A thinner one would have been better.
This hotel has improved greatly, and I have always had good service from them.

myself and my sister visited the restaurant on sat 8th may. for the main course we ordered spatchcock chicken my sister is not a vegetarian but only eats white meat the only other choice for her was goats cheese which she cannot eat. when the chickens arrived they were not spatchcock they were small chickens or poussins. i had only just started eating mine when i realised there was blood coming out of the legs it was quickly taken away with no fuss and i was offered another meal which i chose lamb three small lamb chops came with quite a lot of fat in this greasy gravy and carrots that were so underdone they could have hurt someone had they shot off my plate when i tried to cut them. in the meantime my sister who had eaten quite a bit of chicken then found blood in her chicken legs this taken away again with minimum fuss and she had another one as
that was the only think she liked on the menu. the restaurant staff apologised and were really nice. we went on to have deserts which were ok when the bill came it was for the full amount we paid it and left. the next day we were both ill with upset stomachs. when we finally got to speak to the manager paul brown he was most unhelpful obviously didnt believe us and said we had not eaten much of the chicken anyway.he also said that the chicken was ok to eat with blood coming out of it . he said that when we go back to the restaurant he will come and personally apologist to myself and my sister needless to say we will not be going back again.

We stayed at Mosborough Hall after attending a family wedding at the same place. The service was excellent, we were able to check in 2 hours early which was very convenient & throughout the day we were impressed with speedy service & friendliness of all the staff. Our room was spacious, airy & housekeeping was to a very high standard. The hotel is set in beautifully kept grounds, the bar prices are reasonable & breakfast was hot with a wide choice of food available. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay; the only downside was the bed, it was far too soft . . but you can't please everyone!
