Spent two nights here as we were attending a family wedding . The staff were great from check in to check out. We had booked two standard twin rooms and one queen deluxe. As ever from a doubletree/hilton they were exceptionally clean and comfortable. However, the difference between the two sorts of rooms were minimal. The deluxe had dressing gowns, slippers, a tube of mouthwash and a fruit dish (consisting of one banana, one apple and one strawberry) - the room size wasnt much different and for the additional £40 wasnt really worth it. Next time we will book all standard rooms as these are just as comfortable. The breakfast was really good with a large choice. Would stay again as it is in a good location.

My partner and I stayed here on 24th and 25th August as part of a Chatsworth House Break. It was great value as the break included 2 nights b & b plus evening dinner on 1st night with a bottle of wine and also afternoon tea and of course the Chatsworth House and Gardens tickets. The rooms were clean and well stocked with toiletries etc. Evening meal on the 1st night was very good but on the second night we paid extra for another evening meal and it seemed that they were extremely short of staff - maybe that was due to a wedding taking place in another part of the Hotel but we had to wait more than 45 mins for our deserts despite asking twice. All in all though extremely good value for money and would recommend.

The hotel was great, the room spotlessly clean, the breakfast very good. The staff were helpful, but not overpowering. Great value for money and would stay again next time visiting Sheffield. Near enough to the city, but far enough away to be quiet.

Room Tip: Go for king size rooms, rooms are great.

My partner and I stayed at this hotel on the night of the 20th August as part of a break to see Chatsworth House. We found a promotional rate for a Deluxe room online and so decided to try a Doubletree hotel.

The expectation created on the Doubletree website is high, with phrases such as "It's the little things" really making us anticipate our stay with excitement.

Upon arrival we were greeted by a friendly, professional receptionist and were also given the trademark cookie each. It seems like Hilton are very proud of these cookies, and seem to base the whole hotel experience around them. Admittedly, they do taste very good.

We were given room 205 which we made our way up to. First impressions on walking through the door were good. The room was a reasonable size, big TV, tea/coffee facilities. All the things you would expect. Unfortunately we seemed to be joined by rather a lot of dust. It was especially deep on a ridge above the headboard and also at the rear of the TV. My partner even wrote "clean me" in it. This level of dust was unacceptable so a complaint was made to reception. The receptionist assured us that the room had been cleaned that day, which I found impossible to believe. She initially offered to send housekeeping up, which we refused on the basis that if they failed to clean the dust on previous attempts would they manage to clean it up this time. We were offered a new room (310) and also a bottle of wine in the way of apology, a gesture which was greatly appreciated.

On the night we visited the leisure club. Brilliant. Although the male changing room was untidy, with plastic bags and towels all over the floor, the actual pool area was excellent. Clean water, good facilities and not too busy either.

In the morning I was unsurprised to find that the newspaper I had requested was nowhere to be seen, and neither was it outside of the previous room we had been in. The breakfast seemed a slightly chaotic experience as well. The table we were given was in the middle of four tables lined up against a bench. The gentleman sat next to us managed to knock the condiments of his neighbours table on the floor due to the small gap between the tables. We were seated by a friendly female member of staff who took drink and egg orders (poached or fried). The wait for eggs was quite long, with the couple next to me having to go on a staff member hunt to get theirs. The buffet itself was reasonable. The food was of a good standard and hot, although when I went they had run out of bacon with no sign of any more appearing soon. Staff seemed to be a bit thin on the ground, with people having to wait a surprisingly long time to be seated.

Checkout was simple enough. We dropped our key in the box, the chap on reception just stared blankly at us. Nothing could possibly go wrong in that process.

All in all, this stay was average. The standard of service is really no better than I have experienced at Holiday Inn branches. At least with Holiday Inn I get the newspaper I ask for. The TV channels in the room are all Freeview channels which are acceptable, although is a sports or premium movie channel out of the question? Again, I get that at the Holiday Inn. For a company that seems to base its whole experience around a warm cookie I suppose I should not have expected too much, although it is the little things that count, and the little things they let themselves down on.

I took my daughter on the Chatsworth House two day deal and we were not disappointed. The deal is great value for money with breakfast both days, dinner on one night with a bottle of wine and afternoon tea on one day. The rooms were clean and we had a lovely view as it has lovely grounds with plenty of parking places. The rooms had everthing we needed. We didnt eat dinner on the second night as it was quite expensive but it is only a 10 - 15 minutes drive into Sheffield where we found a lots of restaurants. I would recommend this hotel and especially the Chatsworth House deal, and would like to take my husband next time.

We agree with recent reviews that rate the Chatsworth Break 'excellent', but this is a rating of the hotel, and not just the package, which was excellent value as others have said. In our view the hotel is understaffed: those there are excellent, but stretched to breaking point - no sign of a receptionist for several minutes on arrival, bathroom products not in the room, bar not staffed when we arrived for the excellent afternoon tea, and again for evening pre-dinner drinks. The bar staff were being expected to serve drinks, run to the kitchen, to fetch bar meals, return used plates, provide room service - all far too much which showed management disregard that could rebound on this fine hotel - good restaurant service, comfortable room, good leisure facility, prime location for city and country breaks, and business travellers. The chef deserves a special mention for the excellent evening menus, but we would recommend avoiding the (powdered I think!) scrambled egg at breakfast. The One Tree Hill Shiraz is an excellent choice off the wine list. We would definitely return and hope that the Hilton management take note of the need to attend to the fine detail.

Room Tip: Ask for the top floor to avoid noise from rooms above.

The Double tree is a well appointed. The bed is comfortable and there is a large decent quality TV.

The rooms are large enough to be comfortable, with a desk, small wooden table and two chairs.

As is common with modern hotel rooms, the electric lighting quality is poor, and only at the periphery of the room.

Service at check-in fairly was slow, and they had assumed that because there was also someone else sharing the same surname as me, that one of us must have booked both rooms.

Be aware that the hotel is situated on one side of a dual carriageway, so to the journey to town is noticeably longer than the journey from town.

Room Tip: Some rooms, e.g. 118 have a very pleasant view of the rose garden
