“Very hard beds - no good for people with back injury”
Reviewed August 27, 2013

I stayed twice at this hotel, but on the second occasion (both 4 night stays) my back was very sensitive from an old injury. I was sleepless as a result and by the end of the week the pain was incredible. Unfortunately, they have put new very hard beds in every room, so i couldnt be changed and also the lack of baths meant i couldnt soak the muscles to help relax them. As a result im no longer able to stay here again, although I've stayed at loads of Premier Inns, this is the newest, so im assuming the newest hotels have these rock hard beds. They might make economic sense in terms of lasting longer in the hotel, but not if people cant sleep on them. I asked if there was anything they could do, but i was told even the disabled rooms dont have baths and have the same hard beds, hence my decision i would find somewhere else to stay in Sheffield when im back,

Centrally located in Sheffield but easily accessible by car, staff welcoming and very obliging. Limited on site car parking but we were always able to find a space in the basement car park. We had a number of small and noisy grandchildren staying with us. The staff were always nice to them and made them feel at home. We stayed in a family room with two of our grandchildren. The family room was quite spacious with an en suite shower, WC and vanitory unit. The rooms were clean, quiet and comfortable.
We hired one of the meeting rooms for an evening get together with our extended family. Excellent value for money!
The breakfast was substantial and exceptional value for money as children ate free with each paying adult. We did dine one evening in the hotel restaurant, the service was absolutely fine but the food was very disappointing and poor value for money when compared with city centre restaurants like Cafe Rouge and Pizza Express which offered better choice and quality at a similar price.
This is the second time we have stayed at this hotel for a summer break. At the summer offer rate of £29 per night for a family room, this hotel offers exceptional value delivered with a smile.
Well done Louise and all the staff team who made our stay so enjoyable!

We stayed in this hotel for the first time December last year. It is relatively new and everything is still very shiny and in excellent condition. The rooms were spotless and the bathroom was a state of the art shower room. My grandsons are at the age where getting a shower is just a chore but they loved the big fancy cubicle and couldn't wait to get in. The breakfast was really good and so much choice. All the staff were very friendly helpful and efficient nothing was too much trouble. Would definitely recommend it.

Came for a family get-together and booked in here for two nights. I am on day one and may not stay for the second night! The welcome at reception is non-existent and the room we were given (eventually) was stuffy, stinking of stale tobacco and had one grubby looking towel provided. We asked for a change of room and were given another one with the proviso that they would come up and equip the room for two people during the afternoon. On returning to the room this evening, nothing has been done and we now find the toilet doesn't flush. Phoning reception for towels has resulted in nothing. I was asked if I would be going down to collect them (8 floors!). There is no service to speak of in this hotel. It's a disgrace!

Just had a two night stay on business - had a rather noisy air con in my room which woke me up both mornings. On the second morning I reported it to the Night Porter at 6am and with no quibbles he had the authority to refund me for one night's stay - a good start to my day...despite the early wake up..! This is what I call good customer service - where all members of staff take accountability for an issue and can deal with it on the spot - well done Alan and the team at Premier Inn!

Stayed one night as was in Sheffield to attend a friend's wedding. Identical experience to a previous Premier Inn I have stayed at. Check in was friendly and efficient (auto terminals available if you prefer). We arrived early and the staff were more than happy to store our luggage for us in their locked secure storage area.

With regards to the room, you get what you pay for here. Our twin room had a double bed and a single bed. Room was a good size. Beds comfortable. Flat screen TV in room worked well with no problems receiving channels. Towels/linen all seemed good quality.

The bathroom is small but perfectly usable and clean. Shower and toilet are in the bathroom itself, with the sink just outside in the main room. The bathroom lock was broken which we forgot to report but this wasn't really a problem.

Shower was good, powerful with plenty of hot water. I'm just under 6'2" & felt perhaps slightly too tall as the shower head was fixed at a slightly lower height than I'd have liked. However it's angle could be adjusted which mitigated this somewhat.

Check out was at midday which was later than expected. Again this was efficiently handled in a friendly manner.

Good value & I would definitely stay here again. Definitely a step up compared to Travelodges I have stayed at in the past. The staff were very friendly and eager to please.

I think some reviewers need to recognise that this is a good quality budget chain hotel. I have stayed at various 4/5 star hotels such as HdV, Intercontinental etc. This hotel is not on a par with them, but nor is its price tag. Comparing this hotel to hotels twice (if not more) the price is unfair and will put guests off whom are looking for a clean good value place to spend a night or two.

If you unreasonably expect 5 star rooms at 2 star prices, prepare to be disappointed. But if you want a clean & comfortable place to stay that wont break the bank, you'll struggle to find better.

NB: Fire alarm went off the night we stayed necessitating an evacuation, rumour was that it was set off by the steam from a shower. Not sure if this is a frequent occurrence or not. All guests were given a full refund due to the disturbance.

Spent 2 nights as we were up for a wedding and 1st time in a Premier Inn. Very good throughout from the moment we parked underground to checkout. Tony on reception was 1st class and answered all our enquiries re places to eat and booking taxis etc. Restaurant manager that looks like "don't get done, get Dom" was also really friendly and professional,.
