“Convenient and good value”
Reviewed January 26, 2013

I only stayed for one night but had a pleasant stay. It was very convenient for me - I had an appointment at the hospital and met friends at a bar close by. The room was clean and simple. I'm never keen on having the bathroom sink in the bedroom rather than the bathroom but it wasn't a huge issue. The shower was good - hot and strong. My only problem was that I got cold in the night but there was no extra bedding so I had to turn the heater up. The heating was simple to use and effective but I have to say that I prefer not to sleep with heating on so it wasn't ideal. My only other issue was a loud noise that happened every so often during the noise - it could have been connected with the heating or with other people using their bathrooms, I'm not sure.

Overall, I had a pleasant stay. I think their breakfast is over-priced so took my own add water porridge.

This really is a great PI to stay in. Check-in was quick and the girl was polite and helpful saying all the usual stuff. I had a room on the 9th floor and it was lovely and quiet. Views were ok too. The rooms were cleaned to a good standard and remained at a comfortable temperature thanks to the air con. The tv was a bit small but that's the only grumble I can have. Breakfast service was great, the young woman was very polite and definately made an effort to keep the customers happy. The breakfast was served on a plate one day and laid out on a hot plate another day, this was due to the number of guests staying, which makes sense. The breakfast area was laid out nice and was stocked well. One of the best things about the hotel is free parking, although it is limited. I asked if parking was ever an issue and was told weekends can be a bit tricky. There is parking on the street if car park full. Don't park on the private land as you will get a ticket, even over night they'll ticket you. During the week I was there parking was fine with plenty of spare spaces. We usually stay at the other PI in the city centre but will definately return to this one. Town is about a 7 minute walk from the hotel. Totally recommend this hotel as first choice to stay.

We stayed 5 nights at this Premier Inn over the New Year. By joining the Premier Inn email list, we were able to purchase advance, non-refundable sale pricing of only UK L148 (US $240) in total. Our room on the 6th floor was basic but spacious and clean. The bathroom included a nice walk-in shower and a heated towel rack. The sink had a large counter area and was outside of the bathroom. The noise insulation was good both from other rooms and from the street below. The heating worked well. The reception staff was accomodating and housekeeping did a good job of keeping the room clean. We enjoyed the coffee and pastries that we ordered from the restaurant one morning. The hotel is almost within sight of the Sheffield United football ground and is a 10-minute walk from the train station. It is convenient to the 2 major universities and several major hospitals, as well. 2 of the groceries within a few blocks are Waitrose (a more expensive supermarket) and Aldi (which has only "the basics" but is much less expensive). The hotel is located next to several busy roads. To cross the roads, you have to walk through short (20-40 meter) pedestrian tunnels underneath.

After a lot of research, I opted for this hotel as it is the only budget hotel in the non-dingy part of Sheffield. Also, it is the only hotel within walking distance of the city centre that has free parking.
The room is great, spacious and clean. The window opens up to allow fresh air in the room. There is an individually controlled air con unit in the room. Loads of lights and sockets. The telly is full freeview and properly tuned.
The bathroom is well lit, the shower cubicle is self contained and very roomy.
Although I didn't pre-pay for food (makes it cheaper, I think), I did go for a breakfast once or twice - the food was plentiful and high quality.
The staff have been absolutely fantastic, pleasant and efficient.
I reckon I will be coming back!!

Stayed here for a weekend with the girls. Staff were very friendly and helpful, even supplying an extra duvet for one of our rooms. They also allowed us to leave the car in the free car park before check in and after check out which was much appreciated.

The rooms were clean, well sized and with everything you need. Beds were very comfy and I didn't hear a bit of noise. The hotel is well located, just a short walk from the shops but out of the way enough for a guaranteed good sleep.

All in all, excellent value.

Have stayed in Premier Inns from Newcastle to Exeter, and know we can expect reliable and consistent standards of comfort, quiet and cleanliness, and good value for money, but this was the best so far. The location was perfect, only a short walk into the heart of the City, with its Theatres, Museums and shops, and the view from our higher floor bedroom window over the snow-covered hills of Sheffield was spectacular. All the Staff were welcoming and friendly, but especially Emma and Neville in the Restaurant, who were cheerful, helpful and for whom nothing was too much trouble - thanks very much to both of you, you made our stay even better, and more determined to come back The Chef Gary and Naomi also deserve a mention for their friendly attitude and great food; we will be back, and look forward to seeing you all again.

Room Tip: We like the higher floors which seem to be quieter and have better views - just ask.
