Reading has several old attractive churches including St Laurence Church which is my second favourite after St Mary's. It's right next to the town hall and is mainly 15th century but there are some older parts. Inside the church is a geometrical memorial to the 17th century mathematician, John Blagrave.

Behind the church is a graveyard with a memorial to Henry West who apparently died in a whirlwind (we don't seem to have many of those nowadays). You can cut through the graveyard to get to Forbury Gardens and the Abbey Ruins over the road.
