“unbeatable pies”
Reviewed January 9, 2013

If you go to one place in Berkshire you have to go here. The pies are the best I've ever had and they do a huge variety of home made pies from their own suppliers.

Family run and owned, you just can't beat the service.

*Vegetarians need to be careful of the vegetable pies as they use lard in the pastry!

“The best in town!!!!”
Reviewed December 31, 2012

If you want good food with friendly service, excellent beer and all at good prices this has to be the place. If you want silver service you'll be disappointed but this is a unique experience this is the place to eat. And don’t be put off by the shop at the front – you may need to fight through the queue to get to the restaurant but this just shows how popular their food is.

As someone who travels all over the south of England I wish there was a place like this in every town.

The staff must be congratulated on the standard of service – I haven’t experienced such warm and friendly service in any other restaurant in the town and I’ve tried most of them.

First rate all round and I’d encourage everyone to try it.

“Unique and charming restauraunt”
Reviewed December 30, 2012

This is a completely unique and charming pie shop where really traditional home made fare is generous and delicious. A superb venue for friends or the family. Heartily recommend this venue known locally as Mrs Miggins Pie Shop

“Perfect pies”
Reviewed December 21, 2012

I cannot sing the praises of this little Reading gem enough. At first glance it's a small pie shop next to a Barbers, quirky in itself, but step inside and it opens like the Tardis with traditional homely decor, cosy booths and a guaranteed friendly greeting.

If you enjoy a good pie you won't find better, packed full of top quality meat and fillings and perfect pastry, the variety is incredible and very unique. Cauliflower cheese is a must and the puddings are heavenly, sponges, crumbles, cheese cake, death by chocolate and more all served with a choice of cream, icecream or custard. Home cooked comfort food at its best. And the prices are unbelievable, where else can you find a huge, top quality, homemade pie and a very generous side for less than a tenner?

Also worth a mention is the shop aspect, pies, sausage rolls, the best homemade scotch eggs, pork pies, quiches and cooked meats, allowing you to take a little of the famous Sweeneys magic home with you.

This is a family run business and you can tell the owners put their heart and soul into this place. I challenge anyone to find anywhere like it. Any reviews with less than 5 stars simply don't get it.
