Overall a nice hotel. The staff were very nice and accommodating. I arrived early in the morning after a red-eye from Toronto and though they weren't able to let me check in early (the place had been full the night before) they did give me access to the pool change room so I could have a shower before heading to work.
The room was nice and clean, if a little cramped by North American standards. The bathroom was split completely in two with the toilet at the front by the door. The main part of the bathroom was next to the bed and was bright and clean. The only complaint there is that the shower leaked at the bottom of the door and the floor would be completely covered in water after each use.
The bed was not up to par in my opinion. Far from horrible, but not what I'd expect from a Novotel.
Extras were very expensive and the magic number seemed to be £14. WiFi Internet, breakfast and parking were (from memory - I might be off a little) each £14/day. I was surprised and disappointed that Internet access wasn't included in the price of the room. As for breakfast, I would just walk 30 seconds up the street to Starbucks.
The parking lot was hard to find and the spots were the smallest I have ever seen in my life. I had a mid-sized Peugeot and on more than one occasion I managed to carefully squeeze it into one of the spots but was then unable to open my door far enough to get out of the car! That was more entertaining than frustrating to me, but if you're not a confident driver you may want to come up with a different solution.
One final note - you can't drive your car down the street in front of the hotel during business hours. It's reserved for buses and taxis. They have it pretty clearly marked but I was looking for the hotel in a strange city while driving on the wrong side of the road and I managed to miss the signs until it was too late. I spoke to a cab driver who told me they'd likely have taken a picture of the car and would send a ticket in the mail. There's no charge from the rental company yet and my fingers are crossed :)
