Stayed at the Beech House Hotel ealier this week and would echo everything positive that has been said about it. Spotlessly clean throughout, friendly staff, well appointed and furnished rooms etc etc.Shoud also mention the wifi which is excellent. Enough speed to stream Sky TV to ipad whilst in my room.

Breakfast was also included and what was provided was to a good standard

The hotel is mainly used by people travelling business people it appears (during the week) and this led to a lovely quiet night with no banging and clanging into the early hours.

At £85 single occupancy it main seem expensive. But on the same night a Premier Inn nearby was £85 -no breakfast, no free car parking, no free wi-fi - No Contest !

I'd more than happily go back on a future business trip or socially

Nothing is ever perfect, so what about the down sides? There were surprisingly few at this hotel - they had a power shower in our en-suite, and clearly had to use a water-softener to stop it scaling up, which produced a very soft, slightly soapy feel to the water. The room we had was more than adequate (rear, ground floor - No.3) just not as spacious as some of the other rooms that we saw, and was apparently less sound-proofed from the room above. There was a cool draught if you sat at the kitchen door entrance of the dining room - not enough to be uncomfortable (and it was February!). So these are all the nit-picking complaints that I can scrape up!

On the other hand, the plus points are so good that I would unreservedly recommend this hotel; it's spotlessly clean, the staff are actually keen to be helpful and are naturally friendly, without it being forced - the manager/owner (Umar) took out half an hour of his time to help and give us advice which saved a lot of time and effort in town, another of the night staff printed out a airport boarding pass for a friend who had been staying at the hotel and had already left - no charge, no questions asked. The receptionist (Nazli/Nasli?) when we first arrived was excellent and considerate and genuinely enthusiastic to show us around.

As other reviewers have said, the dining room and other rooms are spotless, breakfast good, and the house (because it feels more like a house, although roomy enough) feels clean and friendly. Parking and position are good (beware though that the police like mounting a radar speed trap on this stretch of road!). I think that this is the level of service would be the envy of much larger and more expensive hotels, so I wish Umar success in extending this to other hotels.

Room Tip: Room 1 (Ground floor front) looked spacious and well-equipped, but I don't know whether noisier...

I found this hotel an excellent choice. Small, neat, great breakfast. In fact, probably what I liked most was a true English environment with an old house transformed in a hotel, proper furniture and a nice garden. I had a ground floor room just near the road, but ... I could not sleep at night as I emerged in an oasis of silence.
The hotel staff was very polite and friendly.
Location si good, with restaurants in vicinity and bus stops.

Best night's sleep in a long time. Nice and spacious. Great breakfast selection. Stayed here for 2 nights, 15 min walk into the centre of Reading of catch a bus. Could not fault. Decor could do a little updating.

Myself and my partner stayed at the Beech House hotel over the weekend (16th - 17th February 2013) we would highly recommend this hotel to anyone! The staff were very polite and helpful upon arrival and throughout the duration of our stay. We had a room on the 1st floor (room 14). The room was beautiful and spotless. It was very spacious and there was plenty of storage space- a wardrobe, 2 sets of draws, bedside table with draws and a table with another two draws. There was a hairdryer in the room and it was very powerful. Additionally there was a t.v.,and a trouser press. The bed was very comfy- firm but not hard. We couldn't hear the other guests from our room and it was very quiet and relaxing.
Across the road from the hotel was a beefeater pub. We would also highly recommend this place to eat. We went on a Saturday night at 7:30pm for food and it was busy. If you want to sit down and eat straight away I recommend you book a table in advance as we had to wait 45 minutes for a table in the restaurant, however we didn't mind the wait. The table was ready dead on time and service was quick. The food was delicious! We had the mixed grill an the pork chops. The steak was cooked as I had asked. The prices were reasonable for the food and the drinks. Staff were helpful and friendy- nothing was too much trouble.
Highly recommended place to visit! Will definitely be returning :)

Room Tip: Room 14 was where we stayed- lovely room, very spacious.

This is a great place to stay. The hotel management and staff are excellent - very helpful, accomodating and friendly. The hotel is calm and quiet and you can be assured of a peaceful night's sleep. The rooms are well appointed, homely and comfortable. There is good parking and the bus route into town is a few yards from the front door. Couldn't be more convenient!
