“First try ...”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 22, 2012

Went for evening meal with a couple of friends Although quiet had nice tasty meals in good local pub atmosphere. Reasonable prices. Slightly dippy waitress (new? Or just not sure what she was doing). Was surprised I asked for mint sauce for my lamb and advised she did not think they had any! They did however and it duly arrived.
Nice pub good prices and atmosphere. Would try it again.

“Good Sunday Roast”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 4, 2012

We took the last star off as the meat wasnt as special as we were hoping. We had the roast beef an it was a bit thinly cut and with not enough pink in for our liking. Odd really as when Kim ran the George down the road the meat was always great. Still good food and certainly well priced.

“March 2012 rating 3 now 5”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 24, 2012

We have returned many times for dinner at The Crown, quite the best in the area. Lovely atmosphere and of course great food, that's what we go out for isn't it?.
If you are thinking about perhaps to try it out, don't hesitate, you won't be disappointed.

“The Crown in Swallowfield”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 24, 2012

The Crown provides good food and beer /wine in a quiet village setting.
The excellent food is prepared on the premises by Chef Kim, who is well known to people in the Reading area. There is always a good choice and the menu changes regularly.
As locals we can recommend The Farm Kitchen in the Crown. The seared Tuna was superb and the Fish and Chips just perfect.

“Worth a detour for the quality of food at this friendly little local!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 23, 2012

Lovely fresh food and a friendly atmosphere. Chatty locals, good ales and locally produced food is what this village pub offers. Friday nights seem to be the more popular night and I even noticed they are doing a special burger and pint for the football. Thumbs up to the chef as I've had the haddock twice now and I'll be coming back to have it again and again!! Each meal has a simple but mouth watering twist which makes this stand out from the rest. Definitely worth the detour off the main road.
