“Fantastic Sunday lunch and amazing service”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 25, 2014

A lovely pub in a lovely area. We booked for my birthday with friends and it lived up to expectations. The food was exceptional, as was the service and the experience with one of the owners unforgettable. He made it fun for us all!

“Long wait”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 20, 2014 via mobile

I met my wife for lunch at the iron duke for a romantic lunch today. We were greeted warmly and served a drink.
That's where the pleasant part finished !
We had to wait 45 minutes for our lunch which was very average, and were not at any point checked on or offered more drinks.
The place was quiet so there should have been plenty of time to be attentive and bring our food without a long wait.
I left frustrated and thirsty

“Good food, well served in pleasant surroundings”

Menu not extensive but sufficient to suit most tastes. Excellent service and timing of courses - not rushed but no long waits. Felt it was personal service.

“Great night out”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 11, 2014 via mobile

Once again food excellent, friends were running late but we were well looked after until they arrived.

The starters are really good and I would strongly suggest the olives, the are out of this world. There mains selection is very good and recommend either the fish pie or the Haddock fish cakes. But with the food cooked perfectly there were just 6 clean plates by the time we had all finished. The cheeseboard is great and highly recommend trying these local cheeses.

“Great Find”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 22, 2014

We visited this lovely pub after visiting Stratfield Saye, home of the 1st Duke of Wellington. It was Good Friday mid afternoon and we had delicious sandwiches freshly made using bead produced by the local bakery, and accompanied with chips and salad. There is a lovely garden and the interior of this historical building very welcoming and tastefully furnished, there is even a genuine painting of the Duke. It's worth visiting the Gents to see the large display of vintage tools! Would visit again.
