Each time I visit Wellington they have added more things of interest. It is a great place to take children as there is so much for them to do and lots and lots of space for them to run around. We usually go for the day and take a picnic and then stroll around the park. Glorious!

We visited the park as a couple with a 10 year old, in March. It was quite expensive, at £26 admission for all of us. However, once inside the park I was quite impressed with the facilities as there is something to appeal to children of all ages.

We did the walk around the main lake, visiting all the attractions around the way. It took us a few hours when including all the play areas, so by the end I wasn't feeling quite so annoyed about the admission price! Near the beginning there is a fantastic wooden play area which is suitable for older children, with climbing frames, obstacles courses and a zip wire. The walk was very scenic, with views of the lake and surrounded by woodland. We also visited the petting area, which was a nice addition as they had a couple of animals out to actually touch. The only area that really let me down was the 'enchanted forest' which was just a small wooden hut. The whole park is very well signposted, and has good facilities with a cafe (we didn't eat there, but the prices looked reasonable) toilets, ample parking and a small gift shop.

It was very cold and muddy when we visited, so some of the attractions weren't quite as they should be, but we still managed to have a really enjoyable visit. Because it was so cold we didn't do any of the marked walking trails, but we will definitely be going back for a longer walk. Overall, a good place to visit with children, and I imagine it is even better in the summer months.

This is a local park to us. If you enjoy walking, picnics and the children like to climb, then this is a good place to come. All the way around are climbing frames, tractors, slides and about 3 different park areas, so the kids love it. They're even allowed to bring their bikes (on stabilisers) or scooter, which some (like Beale Park) don't allow... this is the highlight of my children's day. They also allow dogs, which again, is a big plus for us as it's a shame to leave the dog at home on a family day out.
The only real down side which has definitely stopped us from using the park more often is the expensive entry - it's not worth going just for a couple of hours - I do think they should make some allowances for this (i.e. went in on a rainy day knowing we would probably be there for no more than an hour - the park was EMPTY!) but they wouldn't even discount the tickets slightly for a group of 8 of us, so it wasn't worth going in when it costs £9 for an adult and £8 for a child from the age of 3 (Ouch!) so we turned around and saved ourselves £70.
Other than that, a lovely place worth going for a day.

We booked Wellington for 2 nights in our motorhome.Washing facilities are good, clean and warm. T.V reception is non-existent (they don't tell you this in brochure) and wi-fi costs £3 .These are normally taken for granted at top sites and their charges per night are high. Good dog walking but this is really a summer season site. Admittance to country park is included in pitch fee but there is very little to see.

Whilst I am delighted to hear the reviewer felt that 'washing facilities are good, clean and warm' which for us are key elements of a stay on our campsite, I am sorry to hear that the reviewer felt that they should have been told that there was no TV reception.
We try to ensure in all of our literature, personal contact and written communication that campers are aware that our site is set within a forest, and whilst it brings many advantages such as the beauty and tranquillity of such a setting, it does prevent some facilities being provided, of which receiving a TV signal is one.
The same goes for Wi-Fi where to provide it, we have had to install several booster units around the site and even then, we cannot guarantee reception on all pitches. This clearly affects our overheads and hence the minimal charge of £3 for a 24hr supply.
Our pricing does reflect the fact that our campsite is situated within the Country Park itself and as the reviewer states, it does include unlimited access to the Park and all its facilities.
I am disappointed that the reviewer felt ‘there is very little to see’ and perhaps we need to be better in informing our campers of the beautiful wildlife that actually surrounds them. We have 4 nature trails to follow, one of which provides up and close contact to our herds of Red and Fallow Deer; a 35 acre lake which has a multitude of wildlife living around and in it including recently, a very rare visit of a Smew. However also on view are Mute Swans, Greylag, Canadian and Barnacle Geese, Mallard, Pochard, Tufted Duck, Great Crested Grebe, Moorhen, Coot and Red Kites; an animal farm to include alpaca, guinea pigs, lamb feeding, micro pigs and tortoises to name a few; as well as all the natural woodland animals including woodpeckers, owls, squirrels, foxes, rabbits and even badgers and of course a multitude of minibeasts and plants to investigate – a botanist’s dream!
I do hope that if the reviewer returns, they may enjoy their surroundings much more than it appears they did on this occasion.
