Description: A Reading pub with a relaxing vibe. Regulars say The Abbot Cook has 'the best beer garden in Reading', but that's not entirely true; it has two. With a line-up of entertainment as eclectic as its top-drawer drinks list, there's also plenty going on inside this Cemetery Junction pub. Don't get us wrong, though: we're more 'gently buzzing' than rowdy and raucous. Our eclectic interior lends itself to a relaxed chilled out drink after work as well as a dining experience to celebrate those special occasions.

Hands down this is my favourite place to eat and drink in Reading. The food is not your average pub grub. You can tell that the guys here have put a lot of thought into their meals and they are outstanding. I personally am a huge fan of their Pork and Chorizo burger with caramelised onions, but everytime we go there and bring friends, eevryone comments on how awesome the place is, how good the food is, and how reasonable the prices are. I cannot recommend enough. In summer they open up the doors and theres live Jazz in the beer garden, and in the winter there's open mic night with some awesome acts. It's nice and informal, and they do a great sunday lunch. When the place is busy service can be a LITTLE slower than normal which is pretty understandable, but when you are there enjoying a drink and good company in a good bar, you will never notice.

A battle through horrendous Reading traffic was made worth it by the cider/tarragon battered fish. My only gripe on last visit was no chunky chips but even that was resolved this time. The fact that my lovely friend paid only added to a couple of enjoyable hours there.

We visited the Abbot Cook for the first time for a Sunday roast.
We hsd to wait a short while for a table which was no problem and we enjoyed a nice drink while we waited.
Once we had sat down and ordered we unfortunately had to wait 50 minutes for our roasts, however the staff were very apologetic. When the food did arrive it was delicious! Between us we had 2 portions of beef and 1 pork. All very yummy. Desserts were excellent too. Overall very good just a very busy day for the m.
I look forward to tasting their food again.

Good selection of beers on tap containing many of my favourites – Sierra Nevada, Brooklyn, Leffe, Doom Bar. Good pub food and fantastic bar snacks such as sausage rolls and squid. Wednesdays is two burgers with drinks for £18.

Love this pub. We have been twice this month for a chilled out and relaxed meal for two. We are not looking for anything amazingly romantic, we are too old for that but do want to chill out, people watch a little and enjoy good food and fine wine and this is what we get from the Abbot Cook. Staff are friendly and helpful and food is good but mostly the atmosphere is so relaxed its just what we need. This pub is hiding its class in the middle of Cemetery Junction, don't miss out.
