“Good night sleep, perfect stay”
Reviewed November 1, 2013

We stayed 3 nights at Reading Premier Inn Caversham Bridge. We travelled by train so it’s a 10-15 minutes walk from Reading Station to the hotel on Richfield Avenue.
Very clean room and comfy beds so we had 3 good night sleep as the hotel slogan says.
Same lady at front desk checked us in and out – very friendly, cheerful and thoughtful.
The Premier breakfast is super-added value for family – one paid adult gets 2 complimentary breakfast for children under age 16.

Food and restaurant service are both great. I like the restaurant staff saying that “you can help yourself with the cold breakfast buffet as much as you like, and order cooked breakfast as much as you want.”

The best part of this hotel has to be wonderful view of the Thames from our room – got to see the beautiful greeneries and the lovely river in sunshine and in morning mist.

A hotel of good price, well-managed and great staff.

Room Tip: Room with a view to the Thames

The hotel is on a main road but I did not notice any noise from the traffic once I was inside the hotel. My room did back onto the back of the pub so occasionally there were staff emptying bottles into the bin, but the latest that happened was at 9.40pm.

There is a pub next door, a petrol station over the road and a short 3 minute walk will take you to a TGI fridays or a traditional looking cafe, depending on which side of the road you are on. Another 2 minutes and you will find a couple of pub retsaurants and take aways. The train station was a good 15 minute walk away.

There is limited parking but I stayed on a Thursday evening and there were still spaces left. The car park is shared with a toby carvery pub and so I can imagine that at a weekend it can get quite busy. There are security cameras on the car park and it is well lit, nice when you are a lone traveller.

The room and hotel are of the premier inn usual standard, no complaints and again greeted by lovely and helpful staff. The hotel was clean, nicely decorated and in working order.

My only gripe was paying £8 something online for the premier breakfast and arriving at the hotel with a toby carvery next door which boasts cooked breakfasts for £3.99, certainly if there are a few of you, you could save a few quid by eating breakfast next door. The breakfast area in the premier inn was quite small, usually you would be served breakfast in the neighbouring pub restaurant, but this one was in house (different to the other premier inns I have stayed at). The service was great and the staff were very attentive and ensured we had had enough to eat. There is also a coffee machine which offers the option to "take out" if you want to.

Would happily stay again but would probably try elsewhere for a cheaper breakfast!

Room Tip: If you want a quieter room, ask for a room away from the pub.

We have only ever stayed at a Premier Inn once before, 12 years ago, and we were not impressed at all. This time the opposite was certainly true. We arrived early evening and found a parking space in the car park, which is shared with the Toby Carvery. The car park wasn't huge and we did wonder whether if we had arrived later we would have found a space. The reception area of the hotel was spacious and very clean and the male receptionist was very friendly and helpful and check-in was quick and easy. We stayed in room 217 and this room was an ideal size for a family. It had a big double bed, a sofa bed and a put you up bed. It was nicely decorated and spotlessly clean. The shower room was also spotless and the water in the shower was also nice and hot. It was nice to have soap and shower gel and nice fluffy soft towels and a hairdryer. Maybe the best thing about the room was the fact that we heard no noise whatsoever. We were facing the road but heard no traffic noise and we heard no doors closing/banging or noise from adjoining rooms. We would certainly stay here again. And are looking forward to our next stay in a Premier Inn.

The location of this hotel is great, and there is a Toby Carvery next door which was very nice. The room was basic, functional, clean and just big enough not to be claustrophobic. it also had a huge TV mounted on the wall.

I love the Premier Inn's because I like the beds. Sadly this time the mattress was very firm and I woke up in a reasonable ammount of pain. There was also no Aircon for if you stayed in Summer.... and the WIFi is 30mins free than pay (Stop being tight!!!!)

The breakfast was well laid out but the cooked breakfast was 5/10. (although you would go next door to the carey for a breaky).

I would stay here again though without a thought.

The receptionist could not have been more helpful and was able to provide a list of restaurants in the area. The room was clean and the bathroom was very well designed with the door being able to enclose the toilet and leave the shower and sink available for someone else to use. Very clever. The hotel room had a lovely view of the river. We were visiting our son and would not hesitate to use this hotel again.

Clean rooms with very efficient friendly staff on arrival.Good value for money.Well sighted close to the river for a relaxing walk. The breakfast was pricey only because a carvery next door was having a promotion on breakfasts. Will certainly use again as it is a good place to break a journey from the East Midlands to Southampton..
