I stayed with my sister and we were both pleased with our rooms. We got a good deal from late rooms, and had we paid full price then I dont think we would have been so happy. The spa facilities were very good, good size sauna, jacuzzi a bit cold but otherwise clean and un-crowded. The staff were helpful and booked aour taxi in to town. This Hotel will need a refurbishment soon

We were pleased with the room, location and staff, Spotlessly clean, well furbished and designed (like the reading spotlights) Liked that there's fridge in the room, free parking, additional stuff like toothbrushes at reception if you forget yours. Reasonably priced, I would recommend it and certainly stay again. Re previous comment about lifts - must have been a temporary problem - its smooth now. Staff noticeably helpful and cheerful.
The room temperature thermostats are effective! -Unlike most hotel rooms where they seem to be there only for decoration.
The shower is alittle quaint (curtain and bath) I guess we've become used to walk-in shower cubicles, but considering the reasonable price it's hardly a problem.
Several restaurants are nearby - 5 to 10 max walk over the bridge or there's a Toby, if you want something even nearer and cheap, two minutes walk the other way.
One thing to watch - again not a problem as the staff are helpful - but could be an irritation if you have short fuse - I said I would pay for any extras in cash as they were incurred.. After midnight the bar doesn't take cash/cards for security reasons. So you HAVE to put drinks to your room.(.I like rushing straight out without having to settle up at check out).
In summary - well pleased.

Room Tip: Quiet rooms overlook the inside central roof, I imagine it would be good in the summer if you like t...

Returning back to my home town, we needed a hotel in Caversham for a engagement party. I remember when the hotel was built and it's now starting to look a little tired if you look closely. The bar and restaurant look very nice, but we did get wafts of kitchen smells at times.
The reception and particularly bar staff were very friendly, making conversation and making us feel very welcome. There were lots of groups coming in for dinner, so they obviously have this sorted
The rooms are clean and well looked after though you'll notice the window frames are wood and the condensation is starting to rot them in places. Otherwise, the rooms are absolutely fine.
It's a great location and whilst I was hoping for a river view when I was told we were at the back, we looked over the roof of the bar/ atrium area, not so picturesque!
On balance, we'd happily stay there again. The price is very fair (though £15 each for breakfast seemed a little high), staff very nice and rooms clean and looked after.
Ask for a river view and if you can't get a parking space right T the front of the hotel, we found out the following day that there is further secure parking just off site.

Room Tip: River view

Next time you stay if you book a room only rate we now do breakfast vouchers on check in for £10 a head which I think is good value for the unlimited hot and cold buffet.

Anyway thank you for taking the time to review the hotel and we look forward to seeing you soon!

Stayed for two nights early October. Usually stay at the Hilton which is also a 4 star establishment but chose Crowne Plaza this time due to its riverside location. Turned out that's the best thing about it - the location. Otherwise, I found the room to be of 3 star standard and really nothing special with black mould caused by lack of ventilation around the window. Small television with a fuzzy picture which could not be improved as comes through the main aerial. Breakfast was OK but again not as good as the Hilton. Leisure centre was nice but was disappointed with the restrictions with pool times for children. i have a very well behaved 10 year old but despite us being there for a whole weekend was restricted to the times we could use it because she was a child. So not exactly child friendly when children are banned at certain times of the day from using the pool. Highlight of our weekend was walking along the Thames feeding the ducks and swans and we had dinner at The Spice Oven buffet restaurant just over the bridge on the Saturday evening which was very nice and recommended. Overall, disappointed with the hotel itself, the rooms were poor I felt and it wasn't cheap either! I would not return, but the location was great.

Dear Wendy

Thanks for taking the time to review the hotel it was good to hear the beds were comfy and you had a nice stay!

We do have certain hours for children in the pool, this is to allow other guests and club members a more serious swim and workout, it is always difficult to please everyone and I hope it did not spoil the stay at all.

We look forward to welcoming you back in the Spring and I hope you enjoy your river cruise which depart hourly from the back of the hotel

This hotel is very well run. There is a team of people ready to go the extra mile to make you feel at home and appreciated. Starting with guided tour through the pleasant hotel fitness and spa, having dinner after the restaurant was closed, needing an amendment of invoice that systems doesnot automaticaly allow..together with well kept, spotless rooms and relaxing location at the embankment of Thames river made my stay relaxing and re-energizing. Thank you.

Just returned from a week end at the Crowne Plaza, staff were excellent, the room was very comfortable & spotlessly clean with views over the River Thames. Perfect location, short walk into the Oracle and town centre and taxi rates were very good. Fabulous leisure facilities, all in all no faults just praise for all the staff at the Crowne Plaza for making our week end stay so enjoyable. Will definately return for another week end soon.
