Description: The Black Prince is a 16th century pub situated opposite to the grounds of Blenheim Palace and on the bank of the river Glyme. It boasts a delightful riverside garden for you to enjoy the summer sunshine overlooking the calming river. Inside the pub there are two roaring log fires, stones walls and a traditional suit of armour. We are well known in area for our excellent quality and variation with our real ales and regularly appear in beer publications such as 'The Good Beer Guide' and 'Beer On Tap'. If you are looking to dine with us you can choose from our wide range of traditional British home-made meals, For a lighter bite at lunchtimes we offer a selection of freshly made sandwiches and toasties alongside our main menu and on Sunday we offer a traditional Sunday roast dinner starting from £8.50. There is also our ever changing chef's daily specials board. We are well known for our treatment of all our dog visitors, and take pride on being Woodstock's best dog friendly venue. Well behaved dogs might even get treated to a biscuit or two from our dog loving staff! We frequently cater for large groups of walkers looking to relax after enjoying one of the many countryside strolls available in the area, including the stunning scenery on view as you walk around the lake of Blenheim Palace. All in all, The Black Prince is one of Woodstock's finest venues to visit for food, drinks and a general good time. Just don't forget to bring your dog along to say hello too!

“Cheap and cheerful!”
Reviewed November 23, 2012

Nice pub with good cheap food. Portions seemed quite small but when we asked for extra vegetables they delivered. Quite a long wait for food but the pub had a nice atmosphere. The two girls who were working behind the bar were also the only waitresses and could have used an extra pair of hands. Would definitely visit again.

“Friendly, unpretentious , cheap”
Reviewed November 21, 2012

Very cheap pub grub (£5 meals), friendly staff and locals, small bar easily gets crowded. Quiz on a Thursday is only a quid to enter with free chips and prizes and isn't too hard. Light relief from the expensive and fancy gastro-pubs in the rest of Woodstock.

“Pub grub (with a very modern bar)”
Reviewed October 20, 2012

Chaotic but good food down by the river on an early summer's day. Nice stroll from centre of Woodstock to this old pub. Inside has been treated to a super modern bar (not sure I liked it) but the staff were full of energy and fun...

Outside riverside is a bit cramped but popular and the food great. Good portions of pub grub.

“Great value food.”
Reviewed October 16, 2012

Called in for Sunday lunch and sat outside in the beer garden. Six of us all chose from the £5 options, all were very happy with their food. Fish and chips looked good, enjoyed my ham egg and chips but everyone envied our friend who chose the f@ggots and mash! The beer went down well although I can't vouch for it myself as I was driving so stuck to coke.

“Great Local”
Reviewed September 26, 2012

We really love the Black Prince, our 'local'. It has an excellent range of changing beers and really nice cider (not that nasty Strongbow stuff!) Food is an absolute bargain. We regularly have the ymmy Chili Nachos starter as a main course. It costs the fiver and we can't eat anything else! Lunchtime sandwiches are also delicious. Whether you sit by the stream in the summer or huddle over the roaring fire in the winter, we think (is Woodstock's best pub - a fact confirmed by the Good Beer Guide which lists the Black Prince as the town's only entry.
