Description: At The King's Head we celebrate all that is the best of British. We use as much local produce from Oxfordshire as possible focusing on freshness, seasonality and on being a traditional pub. Bar snacks are available all day and a full daily changing menu is available at lunch and dinner. All our food is wholesome and homemade. Where possible it is organic and fairtrade.

“Wonderfull food and service you can't beat!”
Reviewed March 11, 2013

Popped out for food this Sunday just gone. Mothers day...thought we wouldnt get a table anywhere so left it till later, about 6 clock to miss the lunch/afternoon/rugby crowds. We went as a party of 5, there are plenty of places to eat in Woodstock but i've always enjoyed drinking in the kings head with my old work crowd but never eaten there before..thought it was worth a punt! The service is always friendly, bit of banter with Mev or Benni which is nice, and nothing but proffesional friendly service from the other staff members. We got given a table and quickly ordered. Two of our party went for the Sunday roast, personally im always a bit wary of this on a Sunday evening, worrying about getting the left over potatoes and veg and ends of the meat from lunch, but the meals were stunning. Great big homemade yorkshires, crunchy roasties, fresh veg and a generous portion of lamb/beef/chicken/pork all for under a tenner!! we'll be booking a table next week! others went for the lasagne (stunning) and the belly pork which was an incredibly generous portion, plenty of gravy, only complaint was that the crackling wasnt all that crackly! Food came quickly despite the other large groups eating, service was attentive but not in your face. Couldn't have been happier! see you again soon guys.

“A Woodstock pub that doesn't charge the earth”
Reviewed February 9, 2013

This used to be the old Potato pub, not so now. Run by an Italian called Merv there is a warm welcome and a good choice of ales. There is an interesting and varied menu all at realistic prices. Woodstock is not a cheap place in general but a meal here and couple of pints is not going to break the bank. Give it a try - Merv tries hard.

“Good food, warm welcome”
Reviewed January 11, 2013

We were spoiled for choice for places to eat in Woodstock but were glad we found this tucked away tardis of a pub. We had such a friendly welcome from the landlord and sat ourselves down with our drinks in a comfy Chesterfield sofa in front of the log fire, while we chose and ordered our food. Mama's lasagne with a twist is not to be missed! We were really well-treated, although the pub wasn't at all busy so the landlord was available to chat. It's a very attractive pub with a courtyard garden and large dining room at the back. The decor looks fairly recently done but in a traditional style with another (gas) fire in the dining room. I would definitely go back.

“Always good food and friendly service. Worth seeking out”
Reviewed October 16, 2012

We live in Woodstock and know it's pubs and restaurants well. We eat and drink at the King's Head often.

As a regular user of Tripadvisor myself when researching places to eat and to stay I would like to suggest visitors to Woodstock make the effort to seek out the King's Head if you want a warm welcome, friendly service and reasonably priced food of good quality.

The pub is in the centre of the town but just tucked off the main street, so not a great trek, just a little less obvious to find!
