“Good food, slow bar service”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 15, 2013

We visited on a Sunday night with a pre booked table. The food was good, service was slow to start but it was busy, however the bar service was very slow through out the evening, which was a right pain.

“Lovely meal”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 14, 2013

I came here last night for a leaving party for a friend at work.
We had 10 people, and had a table booked for 7pm.
Of coruse we all arrived earlier for a drink, Some of our party were already there and seated, and the bar was packed so we did worry about everyone arriving, but not a problem we managed to find some chairs and pull them over.
We waited for about 15 minute at the bar to be served, not a big problem as we werent in any rush.
Table was booked for 7, didnt end up getting it until about 20 past as the party before us were running late.

When we finally got seated, we seemed to be in a more private area as we were a large party which was nice, and the waitress came over rather quickly to take our order.
Being a large party it did take a while but once we ordered the starters came quickly.
We had a large mixture of things, Baked camembert, Pigeon, Scallops and Soup.
Every plate was cleared, it was all so nice.
The Pigeon starter was very small, and my friend who had this said there was not much meat, and would have liked a little bit more, but I guess its only a starter.

Plates were cleared quickly after finishing, and while we were waiting for mains, we were offered more drinks, and all throughout the evening the waitress (I didnt catch her name) kept checking all was okay which was nice as some staff at other restaurants just leave you to it.

Mains were lovely, I had the Gnocchi which came with Butternut squash, spinach, ricotta, sage & pumpkin seeds, the portion was MASSIVE and it was only £10.50.
Other people had the Pork Belly, King prawn, crab & chorizo linguine, Pan fried sea bass fillets, Spitroast chicken and a burger, and again.. EVERY plate was clear (apart from mine because I ate far to much Cheese for starter - not because it wasnt nice)

The total bill was just under £300.00 for 10 people, to be honest the amount we ate and drank I thought it was going to be sooooo much more expensive.

My only negeative, which isnt really a big deal, was just annoying at the time.
I ordered a coke when out mains were cleared away, and it didnt arrive, so I asked again about 45 minutes later, to which it then came 20 minutes later.. by this time I wasnt thirsty!

“Great food”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 11, 2013

We had a great meal here while seated outside along the river. It was highly recommended and it was well worth the cab ride to Summertown. The food was great and the atmosphere was too.

“Perfect for a special treat”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 9, 2013

This is an expensive place to dine, but worth every penny. We visit once or twice a year on special occasions and always leave very satisfied with the service and meals. The location and situation are just great, the ambience/decor are lovely, the waiting staff are knowledgable and polite, and the food is awesome! I would have rated it 'excellent' but the prices are just too high for a regular restaurant. Great place to eat if you can afford it!
