Second visit to Pierre Victoire, first evening visit. Great little place, tasty food, authentic staff and a great 'buzz'.

“Always well served”
Reviewed January 15, 2013

I used to eat at PV when I was in Oxford for the first time back in 2006 and I was always very pleased with the experience. On my return to Oxford in January 2013, the place is still the same. The 6 or 7 options of the Lunch menu are all very good. If you want to come for dinner the prices will double.

“Brasserie fare”
Reviewed January 14, 2013

Attracted here as there was a restaurant of the same name in Basingstoke fifteen years ago offering individual home cooked french dishes at great value for money and the Oxford incarnation proved even better. Four of us ate here from the pre - theatre fixed price menu at £10.50 for two satisfyingly adequately portions and coffee. The soup and calamari were well received and the Confit of duck leg absolutely delicious. The wine, a Domaine fichet was a very fairly priced soft Burgundian and satisfied a member of the party who normally prefers white. Together with three puddings and a liqueur coffee the total bill came to £83.90 for four for a very pleasant Friday night out.

“Excellent value!”
Reviewed January 14, 2013

We visited Pierre Victoire yesterday for lunch. The set menu for Sunday lunchtime is an absolute bargain, with three courses for under £15. I had whitebait, followed by duck with sticky toffee pudding for dessert. All were delicious. My husband had soup followed by roast beef with Yorkshire pudding and assorted vegetables and was also happy with his choices. He was also able to get real Breton cider to drink with the meal, which is often quite hard to track down. I think the sticky toffee pudding was the best I have ever had - very light and moist, We both had coffee to finish and had change from £40 for the two of us. Service was friendly and efficient and, as our waitress was French, the atmosphere was just like being in France! The only slight drawback is that the restaurant is very small so feels a bit cramped. It also has a 5* food hygiene certificate, so don't worry about getting food poisoning. Altogether it was a very pleasant experience!
