My sister said she would treat me to dinner out in lieu of a birthday present and suggested we go to Gee’s as neither of us had been in a while.
It has a very pretty entrance and impressive bar area. We just had to have a glass of fizz in the bar from where we could see into the kitchen. Noticing our keenness the manager asked if we would like to peek in – we could see a variety of dishes going into the wood fire oven.
Our table was ready so we got ourselves seated, the waiter was courteous & helpful.
We decided to skip starters so we could manage a desert each. I loved the sound of Monkfish, spinach & bacon, my sister opted for the Rofford pork belly, kale & sweet potato. We loved the look of the pizzas flying by, next time…
We just needed one portion of the chips which arrived in a fabulous paper cone & were truly appreciated. Both dishes were delicious & we congratulated ourselves on our choices. My sister asked about the pork which is evidently from the owner’s farm in Oxfordshire.
Between us we managed a bottle of Picpoul de Pinet, delicious.
One goats curd cheesecake with figs & one ice cream with Pedro Ximenez later we were finished & very happy at that.
We noticed the beautiful restaurant was filling up with people with more arriving in the bar area. We thanked our waiter and the manager for everything & all in all left pretty happily.
