“Great experience, breakfast in Harry Potter hall”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 20, 2014

Make sure you book yourself in renovated room facing the quad. These rooms are great, unlike the old street facing rooms (yes, we could compare).
You get towels and a surprisingly good range of travel size toiletries.
The view from the windows (also bathroom) is spectacular, the best moment is when you wake up and look outside of the window..
Bed super comfortable, didn't want to leave!!
Breakfast was served in the Dining hall, now THIS WAS THE ULTIMATE EXPERIENCE!!!
The moment we went in, it was a WOW effect, this was Oxford's greatest dining hall..!
After talking so many photos we finally started having breakfast, cooked English breakfast was served in an adjunct room, continental was on a buffet in the hall.
The amazing thing is, the tables were all set up, including coffee, hot water and orange juice!
Location, opposite Pitt Rivers Museum and M of Natural History, waking to Centre 7 min, bus station 12 and train 20 min.

Room Tip: Make sure you book yourself in renovated room facing the quad.

Fairly basic rooms - a table lamp between the twin beds would have been nice as there is only one central light in the room. The room was hot and stuffy so we had to leave the window open throughout our stay. Having said that the highlight was the great hall where you have breakfast. On the last day we even got to sit at the top table with a magnificent view of the assembled guests. The food was okay and the service very good. Holman Hunt's Light of the World in the chapel was my favourite part of the weekend experience

Room Tip: Best to book an ensuite room with a view of the quad

A chance to have a genuine Oxford experience, living in a college with breakfast at the High Table but with much more comfort than in my student days! Lovely en suite room, Internet access, tea & coffee - no TV but good desk and cupboard space. I would return if I ever have a study or writing project to work on, for the calm and inspriation of the surroundings.

We recently spent a night staying at Keble as part of our UK experience.
Wanting to experience as many different B & B's as we could, we liked the idea of staying at such an iconic place, and we were blown away with the College.
Simple, clean and functional rooms, opened out onto the beautiful grounds with the most amazing dining hall -
The staff were so very helpful, and it is just a short stroll to the shops and restaurants.
Stay here to enjoy a piece of English history - and take the time to soak up the atmosphere of this amazing part of the city.
Parking is off site - and watch out for the different zones - they are fiercely patrolled, and the fines are hefty!!

We were in Oxford for only one night and had found that most hotels were very expensive. Then we found that we could stay in the student residences of colleges and thought that this would be a real Oxford experience. And it was, indeed!
Keble is within walking distance from the bus (coach) station, and a little further away from the train station. It is located right in the center of the interesting part of the town. The short walk could be a bit tough on the wheels of the suitcases, though, because of the cobblestones. We heard that it could be problematic for people who want to park their cars, but for travellers by train or bus, it is convenient.
The staff at the porter lodge were very helpful at check-in and recommended an area with good and affordable restaurants nearby.
The room was very basic, as expected, but clean and with a very functional shower. We were in the old part of the college, with our window on the Liddon Quad. Very quiet night. When coming back from dinner, there were musicians rehearsing on the organ in the chapel. Magic moment that could not be experienced, had we been in a regular hotel...
But the real treat was the buffet breakfast in the great hall. We could think we were in a Harry Potter movie. Many people were rightfully taking pictures of their breakfast!
The internet wifi signal was too weak in our room, so we had to move our computer to the hall in front of the Porter's lodge to take our emails.
Our stay there was not cheap, but considering the special experience, and the price of hotels, it was worth it.

Room Tip: The streets around the college appear to be quiet at night. Not sure if it is worthwhile paying more...

To stay at Keble College is to experience a tiny bit of what it might be like to be a student there. The buildings themselves, centred around the quad, are beautiful and a breath-taking setting. Once you step through the very old doorway to the Porters Lodge an almost reverent hush descends on you. The rooms are definitely students rooms, so are fairly basic and relatively clean. No frills. The rooms facing the quad are quieter. Walking distance to town. And breakfast in the longest dining hall in Oxford is just a wonderful experience. Our kids imagined Hogwarts! The sense of history is great.

The only downside really was that the beds we had were awfully uncomfortable. You could feel the springs in the mattresses. But we didn't mind too much given the great place we were staying.

A delightful stay at Keble, excellent breakfast in Harry Potter like dining room and friendly helpful staff at Porter's lodge. Close to town shops as well. The only downside was not having wifi in the rooms - difficult for work. If you need to use the Internet in the room, you need to bring your own cable.
