“Too busy for service!”
Reviewed January 24, 2013 via mobile

We had just been to the cinema and decided to celebrate a special occasion by having dinner at Loch Fyne afterwards. When I rang to book I was told that they were busy that night but could get us in. We rolled up about 15 minutes ahead of our booking time to find the restaurant at best half-full and thus the right ambience for us. We were told again and again by our waiter that they were so busy, and as a result it took the better part of two hours for a simple three-course meal. Some parties and couples came in after us and left before us, some even getting a starter and a main course before we'd even had bread! The food was ok, good moules marinieres and excellent chips, though the portions seem to have shrunk recently at Loch Fyne. A few blips on the part of our constantly apologetic waiter during ordering, and a lot of time to kill, made for swift attacks on food when it arrived! That said, the waiter by way of apology (again) heftily discounted our bill and it was close to closing when we finally got out of there. It allowed for a joyous evening to chat at least, and I suppose it was midweek and thus low time for staffing, but surely the amount if bookings should have resulted in more people being pulled in? Anyhow, I'm sure we'll visit again, since Loch Fyne are good at what they offer and the produce is of a very high standard - but hopefully there'll be enough wait-staff to go around next time!!

“Very pleasant restaurant, a step from the Picture House cinema ...”
Reviewed January 19, 2013

This was our first visit, and we were very impressed. The service was excellent and friendly and the food very good. I like the stylish and uncluttered decor, and the spaciousness - the interior is far bigger than you'd think from outside. The menu choice was good - my only quibble is that there isn't a great deal of choice for vegetarians who don't eat fish. However, given that this is a fish restaurant, I may have to forgive them. I'd certainly return and would recommend Loch Fyne to others.

“Great Seafood restaurant.”
Reviewed January 14, 2013

Me and my sister were recommend this restaurant by the concierge at the Randolph. The choice of Seafood was brilliant and the service spot on. Very attentive staff, I chose their special of the day which was Seabass with boiled potatoes and a butter sauce. Sea bass cooked to perfection, the restaurant has a very chilled out vibe to it, nice and relaxing. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a wide range of Seafood.

“ok food, poor service”
Reviewed January 11, 2013

On the surface this restaurant has everything going for it, excellent location, welcoming exterior, superb interior, imaginative menu.
But yet its staff and management seem incapable of sustaining your initial impression.
A large party, mid week, first week after new year, less than half full but yet after 30minutes we have to ask to order our drinks, nothing is offered to us, we have to ask time and time again. We order from a set menu of which there only seems to be 1, as the waiter passes the 1 menu from person to person ( there are 14 of us ) we suggest perhaps more menus would be better. Our drinks finally arrive and are subsequently dropped and tipped over one of our party, a mediocre apology is offered. The staff do not know the menu, they do not know who has ordered what and seem bewildered, i dread to think how this restaurant copes with a full house. The food is the saving grace, but only just, its good but not amazing. I acknowledge we are a large group and we all have off days and make mistakes, but there is no managerial back up here.
And to complete things we are charged £50.00 more than we should have been,no apology is offered and the night is complete. We wont be returning.

“Should be better than this”
Reviewed January 6, 2013

A most disappointing evening. Birthday treat it was not. If you are going to be a sea food restaurant in a discerning location you need to rise to a certain standard. If you feel like an evening of playing "Hunt the fish" in the fish pie, this could be for you. The demeanour of the staff , give the impression that the place is falling short
